You don’t need to attend awkward networking events to build connections. Here are 10 ways to network online (from your couch) to land your dream job, mentorship or just to stay in touch: 1. Start with warm calls, not cold DMs Reaching out to strangers is intimidating. So, begin with people you already admire or respect: past colleagues, old classmates, mentors, or anyone you’ve gotten value from. Reach out, share your goals, ask for advice, or simply reconnect. — 2. Build (or join) a 3-6 person mastermind Invite people you admire to check in monthly or quarterly. Ask 3 simple questions in each meeting: • What’s your biggest win? • What’s your biggest challenge? • How can we help each other? This becomes your personal board of advisors, and their networks become yours, too. — 3. Make intros within your own network Instead of always trying to add new people, try connecting two people you already know. It builds goodwill, and often sparks reciprocity. Some of my best opportunities came from introductions I made first. — 4. Be the tortoise, not the hare Strong networks aren’t built in a week. They come from consistency, trust, and staying top of mind. Check in. Celebrate small wins. Be helpful, even without asking for anything.  — 5. Send snail mail Want to stand out in a sea of LinkedIn messages? Send a handwritten card or even a fun comic with a note. The person will always remember your “extra” effort. — 6. Elevate the interaction • Only chatted with someone online? Try a call. • Had a few calls? Try a Zoom meeting. • Know them over Zoom? Meet up in person. Each upgrade strengthens the connection. — 7. Pick one platform to dominate Instead of being everywhere, go deep somewhere. For example, if it’s LinkedIn: • Endorse people • Write thoughtful comments • Share niche insights your network actually values   This depth pays off more than shallow visibility. — 8. Curate, don’t just connect Curate the best insights, tools, or articles in your niche, and share them regularly. You’ll become a trusted source people keep coming back or referring to. — 9. Do something fun together Shared activities build bonds. This could be as simple as playing a game, joining a sweepstakes, or co-hosting a webinar.  People remember who made them feel something. — 10. Swipe right (yes, really) Apps like Shapr or Invitly are designed for warm outreach — you match with people who want to meet others. It’s cold networking without the awkwardness. Networking isn’t about pitching. It’s about planting seeds. Start with one person. Reach out. Reconnect.  Then keep showing up, helping others, and making connections that count.

How LinkedIn is evolving—and why you need to adapt. If you still see LinkedIn as just an online CV, you’re missing out on its biggest transformation yet. The platform is shifting from a traditional networking site to a dynamic content-driven social hub, and if you’re in business, marketing, or personal branding, this is the perfect time to take advantage of these changes. Here’s what’s happening and how you can stay ahead: 1️⃣ The rise of short-form & engaging content Remember when LinkedIn posts were mostly long-form articles and corporate updates? That’s changing. The platform is embracing short-form, snackable content—think quick insights, carousels, and even memes! More professionals are sharing authentic, conversational posts that feel less formal and more human. 👉 How to adapt: Don’t be afraid to inject personality into your content. Share short, relatable insights, industry observations, and lessons learned—like you would in a conversation with a colleague. 2️⃣ Video is becoming more prominent LinkedIn’s algorithm prioritizes video content, and professionals (including CEOs!) are leveraging it to share insights, company updates, and behind-the-scenes moments. Live videos, explainer clips, and even casual talking-head videos are gaining serious traction. 👉 How to adapt: Start experimenting with video—even if it’s a simple one-minute clip sharing a key industry tip. It builds trust, credibility, and engagement far beyond text-based posts. 3️⃣ Community over connections Gone are the days of just collecting connections. Engagement matters more than follower count. LinkedIn is rewarding meaningful interactions, so posts that spark conversations (instead of just broadcasting information) are getting the most visibility. 👉 How to adapt: Ask questions, encourage discussions, and engage with comments. Treat LinkedIn like a two-way conversation, not a podium. 5️⃣ AI-powered content & personalization LinkedIn is increasingly leveraging AI and smart recommendations to personalize the user experience. The algorithm is prioritizing content based on interests, engagement history, and even reading patterns. 👉 How to adapt: Be strategic with your posts—consistency is key. The more you engage and post content that resonates with your audience, the more LinkedIn will surface your content to the right people. LinkedIn is no longer just a “professional” networking site—it’s a powerful content and community platform. If you want to grow your influence, land opportunities, or strengthen your brand, now’s the time to rethink your LinkedIn strategy. #LinkedInMarketing #PersonalBranding #DigitalMarketing #SocialMediaTrends

"I hate networking." I hear this all the time. And I get it. The idea of walking up to strangers at events, making small talk, and asking for favors feels forced and uncomfortable. But here's the truth: networking doesn't have to feel like networking. Here's how to build genuine connections without being awkward: Start with warm connections. Don't cold message strangers on LinkedIn. Start with: → Former colleagues → Alumni from your school → Mutual contacts who can introduce you → People you've worked with before These conversations are easier because there's already a foundation. Lead with offering value, not asking for favors. Don't start with: "Can you help me find a job?" Start with: "I saw your post about [topic] and thought you might find this article interesting." Or: "Congratulations on your new role! I'd love to hear how it's going." Give first. Ask later. Use LinkedIn to build relationships before asking for anything. Don't send a connection request and immediately ask for something. Instead: → Engage with their posts (thoughtful comments, not just "Great post!") → Share their content when it's relevant → Send a message just to catch up, no agenda Build the relationship over time. When you do reach out, make it easy for them. Don't say: "Can I pick your brain?" Say: "I'd love to hear about your experience at [Company]. Would you be open to a 20-minute coffee chat? I'm happy to work around your schedule." Be specific about what you're asking for and respect their time. Schedule "informational coffee chats" instead of calling it networking. Reframe it in your mind. You're not networking. You're: → Learning from someone's experience → Having a conversation about your industry → Building a relationship with someone interesting Take the pressure off yourself. Follow up and stay in touch; don't just reach out when you need something. After the conversation: → Send a thank you note within 24 hours → Share an article or resource they might find useful → Check in every few months (congratulate them on wins, share updates) Stay on their radar in a genuine way. The best networking doesn't feel transactional. It feels like building real relationships with people you respect. And those relationships? They're the ones that actually lead to opportunities. Save this post so you're ready to network without the awkwardness.

Raise your hand if cold emailing someone actually makes you sweat 😓 I get it — cold emailing can feel incredibly daunting, but it doesn't have to be. As someone who has "shot her shot" many times over InMail, DMs, emails, etc. there's a few tips I have on how you can (as my amazing co-host Gianna Prudente says) make the cold email a little warm: 1. First, remember there's still another person on the other end. Behind every inbox is a human being with their own goals, challenges, and experiences. Approach your email with that in mind. Instead of diving straight into a request, take a moment to acknowledge their work, share why you admire it, or highlight something you have in common. BE PERSONABLE, Y'ALL. 2. Balance professionalism with personality. Yes, you want to sound polished, but don’t be afraid to let your personality shine! Authenticity goes a long way. Share why you’re reaching out, what you hope to learn, and how you see this connection being valuable for both of you—not just you. I also do believe in courtesy: When you reach out, say "good morning" or "hello". Don't just jump into the ask. 3. Focus on building community. Networking isn’t a one-way street. The strongest relationships are built on mutual value and not feeling like you're being taken advantage of. Instead of making it feel transactional (“Can you do this for me?”), think about how you can contribute to the conversation or be helpful in return. You’ll go farther by fostering relationships over time rather than expecting quick wins. Remember: the goal isn’t just to make a connection—it’s to build a relationship. Let me know in the comments below what some of your favorite networking tips are, and be sure to check out the latest episode of "Let's Talk Offline" (and be sure to follow the show!) where Gianna and I hang out with our work bestie, Morgan Young all on building your network and getting more comfortable with building your community.

Your Inbox Is Your Reputation (how to email like a CEO and build a real network): Most people write emails that either apologize for existing or bulldoze the reader. Neither earns trust. Clear, confident, respectful messages open doors and keep them open. Simple playbook (use this this week): 1. Lead with purpose. First line = why you’re writing and what success looks like. 2. Ask like an owner. One clear request, one date, one owner. 3. Be brief, not vague. 3–5 lines max or a bulleted skim + a direct ask. 4. Give the why. Tie your request to the goal, team, or customer outcome. 5. Set a clock. Deadlines prevent drift; include the consequence of delay. 6. Offer options. Make it easy to answer: A/B, Yes/No, or a number. 7. Close the loop. Confirm next steps in writing; send the receipt of action. 8. Follow up with a decision, not a nudge. “Decide by X so Y can move.” 9. Email isn’t small talk, it’s leadership in writing. Make every send count. What’s one line you’ll upgrade in your next email? ♻️ Share this with someone building real connections ➕ Follow Helene Guillaume Pabis for human-first leadership, clarity, and momentum ✉️ Newsletter: https://lnkd.in/dy3wzu9A

𝗨𝘀𝗲 “𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴” LinkedIn now allows scheduling directly within the platform. Plan a week’s content in one sitting, stay consistent, and never miss your best posting time. 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 “𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘀” Ask questions, spark debate, and gather insights. Polls drive high engagement especially when you add thoughtful follow-up comments once results come in. 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 “𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀” 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲 Go beyond vanity metrics. Check engagement rates, top-performing post types, and follower demographics to shape a smarter content strategy. 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 “𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽𝘀” Find niche-specific groups, add value to discussions, and connect with like-minded professionals. Many collaborations start here and not in DMs. 𝘽𝙤𝙣𝙪𝙨: 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙪𝙢-𝙊𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙁𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙂𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙣 𝙀𝙙𝙜𝙚 If you’re serious about accelerating your growth, LinkedIn Premium offers a few hidden superpowers: 𝗜𝗻𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝘀 – Reach out to anyone directly, even outside your network. Content Strategy for Busy Executives Creating quality content consistently on LinkedIn can feel like an uphill battle with the bandwidth available. I hear you. But, what if I told you that you could make a significant impact without having to carve out hours from your already packed schedule? Let's dive into some actionable tips that will help you streamline your approach and maximize your LinkedIn presence. 0. Identify your key topics This is the most important step. Identify your key/umbrella topics that you can talk about as a subject matter expert. Dissect those topics into sub-topics>>Micro topics>>Nano topics For eg: Leadership>>Behaviour>>Characteristic Behaviours of Transformational Leadership>> A anecdotal LinkedIn post citing intellectual stimulation 1. Leverage the Power of Planning Spend 30 minutes at the start of your week planning your content calendar. A little foresight goes a long way in ensuring a consistent and impactful presence. 2. Curate, Don’t Just Create Not all your posts have to be original content. Sharing your views on industry news, articles, or studies can be incredibly engaging. It shows you're in tune with the latest trends and willing to spark conversations around them. 3. Batch Create Your Content Dedicate a specific time slot in your week for content creation. In just one hour, you can draft several posts or short articles. Use LinkedIn's built-in scheduling tools to schedule these across the week. This approach not only saves time but also keeps your feed active. 4. Engage Efficiently Allocate 10-15 minutes daily to engage with your network. Comment meaningfully on posts, share insights and respond to comments on your posts. Engagement builds community and amplifies your visibility. 5. Repurpose with Purpose Got an old blog post or a keynote speech? Break it down into bite-sized posts, infographics, or short videos. Repurposing content extends its shelf life and appeal, reaching more people with less effort. 6. Embrace Video Content Videos are a powerful way to connect with your audience. It's a great tool if you are not camera shy, a quick 1-2 minute video sharing a tip, insight, or reflection can be more engaging than a long post. And with today’s smartphones, a high-quality video is just a few taps away. 7. Use LinkedIn’s Built-in Features Polls, LinkedIn Live and LinkedIn audio are fantastic tools to engage your audience with minimal effort. They offer a more interactive experience and can provide valuable insights into your audience's preferences and thoughts. Yes, you do need creativity for writing But on LinkedIn consistency is equally important So think of it as a process first Remember, the key to a successful LinkedIn strategy isn’t in spending countless hours online but in being strategic. Would love to hear your thoughts and strategies too! How do you make the most of your time on LinkedIn? Drop your insights below! #personalbranding #contentstrategy #thoughtleadership

That’s when it hit me: networking isn’t about collecting names, titles, or LinkedIn connections. It’s about building relationships that actually matter. Here’s what I learned the hard way: - When you treat networking as a numbers game, you end up with contacts, not connections. - When you reach out without a clear purpose, people can sense it—and the conversation rarely goes far. - When you don’t nurture relationships over time, they fade away before any real value is created. So what works instead? - Adopt a value-first mindset. Before reaching out, I ask myself, “How can I contribute to this person’s journey before asking for anything?” Sometimes it’s sharing an article, making an introduction, or just offering encouragement. - Prepare before connecting. A little research goes a long way. Personalizing a message shows genuine respect for someone’s time and creates a much stronger first impression. - Maintain relationships. I’ve learned that small, consistent touches—congratulating someone on a promotion, commenting thoughtfully on their posts, or checking in periodically—make a big difference in keeping connections alive. Over time, I’ve discovered that quality connections always outweigh quantity. The few meaningful relationships I’ve nurtured have opened more doors, created more opportunities, and led to more collaboration than any pile of business cards ever could. Do you know who you silent salesperson is? The one who can make sure your prospects are already convinced of your product's value before your first conversation. Did you know that prospects are 75% through their buying journey before they ever reach out to sales? By turning LinkedIn into your silent salesperson and providing valuable content, you can significantly shorten the sales cycle. How do you do it? Here is what worked for me: 🎯 Create a 'Content Roadmap’.  Design a series of posts that build upon each other, taking your audience on a journey from awareness to decision. Each piece of content should lead naturally to the next, keeping your prospects engaged and moving forward. ⭐️ Example: Start with a post about a common industry pain point, follow up with a success story, then a how-to guide, and finally, a case study showing measurable results. 🎯Start Social Listening.  Instead of just posting content, actively listen to what your audience is saying in comments, groups, and other forums. Use these insights to tailor your content to address real-time concerns and questions. ⭐️ Example: Notice a recurring question about data security in your industry? Create a detailed post addressing this concern with actionable advice and expert insights. 🎯 Host Live Sessions and Workshops. Go beyond static posts and host LinkedIn Live sessions where you can interact with your audience in real time. Host workshops and give your LinkedIn audience access. Then use these sessions to answer questions, share deep dives into specific topics, and showcase live demos of your product or services. ⭐️ Example: Announce a LinkedIn Live session about "Top 5 Data Management Challenges and How to Overcome Them" and engage with your audience directly. 🎯Leverage User-Generated Content. Encourage your clients to share their experiences and tag your company in their posts. This not only provides authentic testimonials but also expands your reach through their networks. ⭐️ Example: Run a campaign asking clients to share a photo or story about how your product solved a problem for them, offering a small incentive for participation. 🎯 Showcase Case Studies. Highlight success stories from your existing clients. Demonstrate how your product or service has solved real-world problems and delivered tangible results. ⭐️ Example: "Discover how we helped our client reduce operational costs by 30% with our innovative solution. Read the full case study here.” After three years of trial and error, I’m now consistently getting at least one lead every other day, just by leveraging LinkedIn content strategically and creatively. Stay tuned for more B2B sales techniques as we continue this series! P.S. Just when you thought it couldn’t get better, tomorrow’s post will reveal the transformative power of personal branding in B2B sales. Trust me, you won’t want to miss it!
