UKREiiF 2026 ✅ We rounded off our week at #UKREiiF firmly focussed on the #future- through our partnerships, places and commitment to developing the next generation of #placemakers. Our Managing Director Phil Mayall and Apprentice Raheim Clemetson-Thomas started the day with Accession Network, exploring how we can be more #diverse and accessible, not just to get #youngpeople into the industry, but supporting them to develop and stay. Our #NextGen networking lunch concluded our conference on a high - with energy, enthusiasm and inspiration. We heard insights into careers and pathways in the sector from our colleagues and partner organisations Regeneration Brainery, Future of Greater Manchester, Greater Manchester Skills Academy. 💬 As Michele Steel summarised: “talent is everywhere, opportunity is not”. We enjoyed the conversations which followed with such an inspiring and energetic group of #youngpeople – a massive highlight of our conference! Keeping our focus on #NextGen, we were pleased to host OnSide for a discussion on how regeneration can respond to the needs of #youngpeople, including the creation of #youthzones. At our Leeds office, TheMJ and Habiko convened local authority leaders to explore how to unlock #housing delivery in a challenging viability landscape with Lisa Gledhill and James Agar. Back at Fearns, alongside St Helens Council Turley and Hawkins\Brown, we explored the importance of effective #community engagement as part of successful and inclusive #placemaking – and why, from the masterplanning stage onwards, the way a project team brings people along for the journey is so important. 💬 As Steven Knowles, MRICS said: “inclusivity can mean many things to many people, it’s about being open-minded about place and what it means to people.” Rounding off our focus on #coastal regeneration, our session alongside Blackpool Council, Business in the Community and Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) discussed the factors behind the iconic seaside destination’s renaissance, outlining what’s on the horizon, and sharing how taking a holistic approach to placemaking can encourage #regeneration beyond the red lines. A huge thank you to everyone who has been part of Muse + Partners at #Fearns this year - all our amazing speakers, partners, moderators, colleagues and everyone who's taken the time to come and say hi. Let's continue the conversation! #UKREIIF2026 #Placemaking #Partnership #Regeneration

Day two at UKREiiF saw ECF join partners for three discussions on long-term partnership, investment and placemaking. We started the morning with Barrow Rising: Unlocking a New Future for Waterfront Living, chaired by Chris Hulme , with Laura Percy from ECF , Peter Anstiss from Team Barrow , Angela Jones from Westmorland and Furness Council and Scott Grady from Haptic Architects . The discussion explored Barrow’s once-in-a-generation opportunity to support long-term national investment and diversify its economy alongside its role in the UK’s defence sector. Speakers reflected on the importance of partnership, social impact and community engagement in delivering the wider Barrow Rising 10-year plan, with Marina Village set to create around 1,350 new homes, improved waterfront connections and a more diverse housing offer that supports people to live, work and thrive in Barrow for generations to come. In our second session, Beyond Quick Wins: How City Village is Building a Compelling Case to Win Long-Term Investor Confidence, the discussion was chaired by Sir Michael Lyons and brought together James Dinsley from ECF, David Shepherd from Bradford Council , Tom Bridges from Homes England , Rachael Dennis from Incommunities and Ruth Davison from West Yorkshire Combined Authority. The panel explored how Bradford’s City Village is building investor confidence through delivery, partnership and a strong sense of place. Speakers reflected on how progress across the city, from public realm improvements and infrastructure investment to Bradford 2025 and growing civic confidence, is helping to change perceptions and unlock long-term regeneration opportunities. The discussion also highlighted the role of collaboration and early investment in supporting Bradford’s next chapter. We closed the morning with Built to Last? Unlocking Placemaking Through Partnership, chaired by Sir Michael Lyons, with Phil Mayall and Lisa Gledhill from Muse, Tom Roberts from Legal & General and Danielle Gillespie from Homes England. As ECF looks ahead to its 25th anniversary, the panel reflected on what long-term partnership has enabled, from patient capital and shared risk to local leadership, public sector support and the conditions needed to keep complex regeneration moving. A fantastic second day in Fearns at the Department. With Homes England | Legal & General | Muse | UKREiiF

UKREiiF day two ✅ Our second day at #Fearns started firmly focused on all things ECF. We hosted a breakfast session with partners from Team Barrow, including Westmorland and Furness Council and Haptic Architects, exploring what comes next for #Barrow as exciting plans for #MarinaVillage moves into delivery. 💬 Development Director, Laura Percy, said: “this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, a project you dream of and a moment of catalytic change for Barrow”. This was followed by a panel exploring how ECF is building a compelling business case to win investor confidence in #Bradford and the innovative funding models which are unlocking long-term growth to deliver Bradford City Village. Alongside those new and emerging visions, there was also an opportunity for reflection as ECF looks towards its 25th anniversary, with partners coming together to reflect on what long-term #partnership has delivered in practice and what this means for #regeneration today. #Viability was at the centre of discussion in the afternoon, first with a fireside chat hosted by Habiko. This session explored the perceived conflict between #sustainability and #viability, and reframed sustainability as a long‑term value driver rather than a cost. A lively discussion and debate facilitated by Lisa Gledhill, LDN Collective and Make Architects further explored whether the sector is asking the right questions about #viability, and where we can change our thinking. 💬 As Max Farrell summed up: “viability is not about value-engineering, but about value-adding". Later, we turned our attention to exploring how bold, design‑led #station-led #regeneration can enhance connectivity, strengthen identity, and unlock long-term economic and social value – with showcase examples at Lewisham and Stevenage. Chris Scott shared insights alongside Jackie Sadek, Jo Negrini and Stevenage Leader, Cllr Richard Henry. We ended the day by bringing together leaders from investment, local government and housing to explore how bold public‑private #partnerships can help tackle London’s housing crisis, like at our waterside community at #HaleWharf, delivered alongside Haringey Council. And our Head of Social Value and Sustainability. Syreeta Bayne MSc, FICRS. joined a fishbowl panel, which previewed ReGenerate’s upcoming report on building for better outcomes, which we're proud to have contributed to. Momentum and collaboration were key themes throughout the day, and we looking forward to our final day tomorrow. 🔗 Join us: https://lnkd.in/e8tVw-r3 #UKREiiF2026 #Placemaking #Partnership #Regeneration

UKREiiF day one ✅ We kickstarted our packed #UKREiiF programme with a breakfast networking session with some of #GreaterManchester’s key regional leaders from Manchester City Council, Stockport Council and Oldham Council. With interesting discussions on #partnerships, places and strategies shaping Greater Manchester’s transformation, the stage was set for the important conversations that followed. As our Managing Director – North West, Phil Marsden, said: “It’s not only about buildings and public space, these are just the facilitator to make peoples lives better”. At our next session with ECF, Salford City Council, and the The University of Salford we explored how long-term public-private #partnerships have made their mark on #Salford’s diverse communities, and what the next 100 years of transformation could deliver. Next up, we were joined by representatives from Plymouth City Council, BCP Council and Homes England, exploring how place-led #regeneration across the #SouthCoast can unlock long‑term economic resilience, strengthen connectivity and create neighbourhoods where people can live, work and thrive – all year round.
