Reflecting on an incredible few days in London this past December. Deep tech is becoming fundamental to how we address societal challenges and build resilience. This week, the "Nordic Space & Defense Summit" in Stockholm brought together a truly international ecosystem around one of today’s most critical technological intersections: space, defence and deep tech. For the DeepTech Alliance, this event was particularly relevant. It was organised by THINGS AB, our operations partner, together with Kista Science City, and counted on strong participation from our own community, including Sparkup Tartu Science Park (bringing the second largest startup delegation), DTU Science Park and Sting, as well as a number of alumni startups that have participated in our programs. With more than 270 participants from 23 countries, the majority joining from abroad, alongside 45 speakers and close to 100 companies across the space and defence landscape, the event reflected the growing global attention around these domains. The presence of deep tech investors, military leadership and space institutions, including representatives from the Swedish Armed Forces and CASSINI, powered by EUSPA - EU Agency for the Space Programme, initiative, reinforced a key message: This is not only about technology. It is about resilience, collaboration and long term positioning. It was also a great opportunity to engage with the broader community at our booth and share the DTA mission with participants from across the ecosystem. Beyond the technologies themselves, one reflection became increasingly clear: many of the innovations discussed are already part of the deep tech capabilities being developed across Europe, now converging into what is often referred to as dual use technologies. This creates a natural opportunity for European hubs, corporates and partners to further connect, structure and scale collaboration in these domains. A strong signal of momentum, and a reminder that deep tech collaboration in Europe is more important than ever. During 4YFN and MWC Barcelona, DeepTech Alliance hosted the first in-person gathering of the Next-Gen Compute Exploration Program, bringing together a small group of corporate members to explore the rapidly evolving quantum computing landscape. Over two days, participants engaged directly with: leading technology companies, like IBM, Microsoft, NVIDIA and SandboxAQ, deep tech startups, like Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech, QCentroid, Quside or LuxQuanta, and research institutions, like Barcelona Supercomputing Center or investors like Big Sur Ventures gaining first-hand insights into the state of quantum technologies and their potential industrial applications. From discussions with global tech players and quantum startups to visits and technical briefings across the ecosystem, the program created a rare opportunity to connect perspectives across industry, science and entrepreneurship. A strong start for the Next-Generation Compute Exploration Program, and the beginning of a journey that will continue across ecosystems and technologies in the months ahead.  The next gathering will take place in Stockholm on March 18–19, alongside the Nordic Space & Defense Summit, where the focus will shift to next-gen communication and cyber defense.
