Today, on 22nd May, we mark the International Day for Biological Diversity, a moment to recognise the vital role biodiversity plays in sustaining life, supporting ecosystems, and ensuring a resilient future. At Greenvolt, biodiversity is intrinsically connected to our purpose. Guided by our vision of being "Shaped by Nature" and supported by a dedicated biodiversity strategy, we ensure that the energy transition goes hand in hand with the protection, restoration, and enhancement of natural ecosystems. Teams across multiple countries and asset types are delivering concrete biodiversity actions, from restoring natural habitats and improving access to nature, to fostering collaboration with environmental authorities and integrating biodiversity considerations into project design and operation. These initiatives reflect our commitment to advancing renewable energy in harmony with nature, whilst creating lasting positive impact across the ecosystems where we operate.

Greenvolt Group recently participated in Portugal Smart Cities Summit, where José Queirós de Almeida, DBA, CEO of Greenvolt Comunidades and Revenue Officer of Greenvolt Next, joined the panel "Sustainability, Water, Energy & Circular Economy". During the session, José highlighted how decentralised self-consumption solutions are key to accelerating energy transition and urban decarbonisation by transforming buildings into renewable energy assets. He emphasised that "in urban environments, we shouldn't look at buildings solely through the lens of self-consumption. Energy Communities make even more sense here, they maximise energy production and enable clean energy sharing with families and businesses at more affordable prices."

Greenvolt Group strengthens TMG Automotive’s on‑site solar capacity with two self‑consumption projects totalling 2.7 MWp. Developed by Greenvolt Next, the projects include the installation of 4,500 solar panels across carport and rooftop systems at two TMG sites in Northern Portugal, with an estimated annual production of 3.7 GWh. As João Manso Neto, CEO of Greenvolt Group, highlights "Strengthening energy autonomy now plays a critical and increasingly strategic role for companies. Self-consumption solutions such as these help reduce costs, improve operational predictability and simultaneously contribute to the decarbonization of the economy”.

Greenvolt Group, through Greenvolt Next, has delivered a 2.2 MWp ground-mounted solar farm for Astellas Pharma. The solar farm, now operational, features 3,192 solar panels supplying 27% of the site's electricity needs and reducing CO₂ emissions by 310 tonnes annually. Gino GAUTHIER, Global CEO DG of Greenvolt Group, highlights that "this project shows how efficiently we can deliver on-site solutions at this level. In just four months, we supported Astellas in reducing its energy costs and improving predictability in a context of continued market uncertainty. The ability to combine speed with high-quality execution is increasingly important for organisations looking for these types of solutions, and we're very pleased to meet that need." Greenvolt was responsible for managing every stage of the project, from design to installation and commissioning, and continues to support Astellas Dublin's site with ongoing maintenance and performance reviews. This project builds on Greenvolt's growing portfolio in the health and pharmaceutical sector, where we've delivered tailored renewable energy solutions for organisations including Sanofi, Eli Lilly, Hovione, and AstraZeneca.

Henrique Gomes, IT Director at Greenvolt Group, recently represented Greenvolt at SAP Connect Day (Lisbon and Madrid, 15–16 April) and SAP for Energy & Utilities Conference 2026 (Toulouse, 21–23 April). During these sessions, Henrique shared Greenvolt's experience with digitalising processes and presented our Biomass Monitoring Centre, a key technological asset that enables real-time monitoring and performance optimisation across our biomass plants. Digital transformation and process optimisation is fundamental at Greenvolt, allowing us to scale efficiently, enhance asset performance, and maintain the agility needed to deliver across multiple markets and technologies.

Recently, João Limpo, Head of Compliance at Greenvolt Group, participated in the 1st Portugal Investigations Forum, an initiative promoted by the Associate of Corporate Investigators and hosted by EY. João took part in the session "Compliance vs HR: Exploring Synergies, Role Definitions, and Key Differences in Investigative Procedures" and shared insights on governance frameworks for managing investigations and practical methods for maintaining the balance between investigation confidentiality and stakeholder access to information. These topics are increasingly important to ESG strategies and robust governance frameworks across organisations, including at Greenvolt.

Greenvolt was present at ESG Week 2026, an initiative promoted by APEE - Associação Portuguesa de Ética Empresarial that brings key sustainability topics to the centre of debate. José Queirós de Almeida, DBA, CEO of Greenvolt Comunidades, participated in the panel discussion "Sustainability with Financial Return: The ROI of Sustainability" alongside Paula Feliciano Viegas, Head of Sustainability at Banco Montepio, and Claudia Almeida, Sustainability Director at Banco BPI. The session explored how to measure the financial impact of ESG initiatives and how sustainable practices can attract clients and investors. The Energy Communities business model demonstrates that sustainability creates greater value when it moves beyond a single centralised stakeholder and becomes shared amongst multiple actors: businesses, consumer communities, and territories. These projects are no longer just infrastructure, they become platforms for shared value that deliver not only economic benefits (lower energy costs for consumers) but also social impact (energy inclusion and tackling energy poverty), and territorial gains (enhanced energy resilience and decarbonisation).

Today, as we celebrate #EarthDay, we reflect on the importance of protecting the planet and those who depend on it. At Greenvolt, our commitment is driven by the collective action of our people protecting biodiversity, supporting communities, and ensuring we preserve what Earth provides us today for future generations. At the heart of this effort is S.T.O.P. (Share, Talk, Offer, Protect), our global social responsibility program, which connects local action, social engagement and environmental protection across our geographies. In 2025, over 170 volunteers took part in 58 initiatives, in partnership with 47 organizations, contributing to more than 450 hours of social and environmental activities. Together, we continue to be the power of change, turning long-term commitment into real impact.

Greenvolt Group, through Greenvolt Next, will deliver Ireland’s largest solar-powered carport at Cork Airport, operated and managed by daa Group. Once completed, this landmark project will have an installed capacity of 1.7 MW and is expected to generate more than 1.5 GWh of clean energy per year, covering around 20% of Cork Airport’s electricity needs, a significant step towards greater energy autonomy and the decarbonisation of ground operations. The contract signing ceremony was attended by Minister for Transport and Minister for Climate, Environment and Energy Darragh O'Brien TD, and Minister of State at the Department of Transport Jerry Buttimer TD, highlighting the strategic importance of this investment for Ireland’s sustainability and transport ambitions. This project follows the solar development at Dublin Airport, also delivered by Greenvolt Next’s Irish team, with a total installed capacity of 9 MW.
