A week ago we attended the Homes for Scotland annual awards. It was great to see so many familiar faces and it's always inspiring to celebrate the very best in the Scottish housebuilding industry 👏. We're incredibly proud to have provided the utility infrastructure for three award-winning developments: 🏆 Deans South, Livingston – The Springfield Group and Wheatley Group 🏆 Willox Park – McTaggart Construction 🏆 West Craigs, Edinburgh – Taylor Wimpey plc (East Scotland) A special shoutout as well to Pauline Mills at Taylor Wimpey East Scotland for receiving the Judges’ Special Recognition Award – a brilliant achievement 👏 It’s a privilege to play a part in developments that are shaping high-quality places to live across Scotland and we look forward to continuing to support our partners in future success! Last Mile reposted this
Yesterday we announced reaching 1 million utility connections, and we’re reflecting on the journey that got us here. This milestone is the result of steady, long‑term growth across every part of our business. The 1 million connections span electricity, gas, water, wastewater and heat networks - all delivered by Last Mile at residential, commercial and industrial developments since we began in 2002. Our story has had some big moments along the way: • Being granted one of the first ever IDNO licences in Great Britain for electricity • Expanding into multi‑utility networks • Becoming a regulated water and wastewater provider • Adding award‑winning low‑carbon solutions to our offering • Attracting blue-chip investor backing Each step has shaped who we are today, strengthening Last Mile’s position as a leading independent provider of essential utilities infrastructure. Learning At Work Week, led nationally by Campaign for Learning, runs from 18th to 24th May. This year's theme is Many Ways To Learn. Our Learning and Development team has curated a range of opportunities in different formats - recognising that everyone learns in their own way. We're looking forward to seeing our colleagues get involved, explore new skills, and continue building a strong culture of learning across Last Mile. #LearningAtWorkWeek #ManyWaysToLearn

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re proud to raise awareness of our charity partner Samaritans and to be sharing our Director, People & Culture’s story about her experience as a listening volunteer. Hannah chose to volunteer because she believes no one should have to face their most difficult moments alone. Through the training and volunteering itself, she's learned just how powerful listening can be. Thank you, Hannah, for sharing your experience and helping encourage open conversations around mental health and wellbeing at Last Mile.

Heading to the All-Energy Exhibition and Conference in Glasgow next week? Our Senior Business Development Manager Lee Christian will be there. Lee specialises in EHV electrical infrastructure - a critical development area of the UK's energy sector to achieve a net zero future. Be sure to reach out to Lee to see how Last Mile can deliver large scale, complex infrastructure.
Looking forward to All-Energy 2026 Glasgow next week, in my new role at Last Mile Infrastructure. It’s a really exciting time for the energy sector, as we look to deliver new connections at pace! I’m looking forward to catching up with people I’ve not seen in a while and having conversations around how we can help accelerate projects by reducing grid connection times and lowering infrastructure costs. If you’re attending and fancy a chat over a coffee, dm me and we can put some time aside for a catch up. If you’re not going to the show, feel free to send me a message and we can arrange a conversation separately. #AllEnergy #EnergyInfrastructure #GridConnections #Utilities #NetZero #EnergyTransition #LastMileInfrastructure

DESNZ’s review of Ofgem is an important moment for how we deliver new homes and major developments. We support the INA (Independent Networks Association)’s core message: the regulatory framework must evolve to match the energy system we’re building today, not the one we had decades ago. At Last Mile, we see every day the role independent networks play in delivering faster, lower-cost connections for new homes, businesses and low carbon technologies - and regulation now needs to catch up. Scaling that contribution will be essential if we are to meet growing demand, particularly from sectors like data centres where connection queues are quickly becoming a barrier. With the right reforms, independent network providers can play an even greater role in unlocking delivery at pace. This will require continued collaboration between Government, Ofgem and industry to ensure regulation evolves in line with the challenges our customers are facing. #NetZero #Infrastructure #IndependentNetworks
We welcome the publication of Department for Energy Security and Net Zero's review of Ofgem. The regulator was designed for a very different energy system to the one we have today. As the sector evolves, so too must the regulatory framework — to provide the clarity, capability and confidence needed to unlock investment, support decarbonisation and protect consumers. For independent networks, that means a regulatory approach that actively supports competition in network delivery and removes unnecessary friction. Independent network operators are already connecting the vast majority of new homes, businesses and low-carbon technologies faster and at lower cost than incumbents. Regulation should reflect that reality and help scale those benefits. There is also a significant opportunity ahead at transmission level. With growing calls for wider ownership and operation of high-voltage assets, competition could play a much greater role in supporting large demand customers, including data centres, and in addressing long connection queues. As the review moves into implementation, it is vital that Government and Ofgem work closely with industry to ensure the reforms are pragmatic, proportionate and focused on delivery. Independent networks already provide utility networks for more than four million households and thousands of businesses across the UK. Our members are connecting 80% of new homes to energy networks and supporting billions of pounds of investment in housing and EV infrastructure. #Ofgem #DESNZ #Energy #Utilities #NetZero #Infrastructure #Housing #Competition

Reaching 1 million connections is a huge moment for our business, and we made sure to celebrate it properly with the people who made it happen. Teams came together to celebrate at our offices across GB. It was a great chance to pause, reflect and recognise those who’ve helped us reach this milestone. A simple celebration, but a meaningful one - because every connection we’ve delivered started with the hard work, commitment and collaboration of our colleagues. Here’s to the next million, and to many more excuses for cake along the way. Read about our landmark milestone here https://lnkd.in/em2u_AD4 #LastMile #MultiUtility
