Shaping the future of mobile connectivity together

About us

The GSMA is a global organisation unifying the mobile ecosystem to discover, develop and deliver innovation foundational to positive business environments and societal change. Our vision is to unlock the full power of connectivity so that people, industry and society thrive. We operate through three main pillars: ✔️ Connectivity for Good engages members, governments and civil society, to advance positive policy and spectrum outcomes, facilitate digital innovation to reduce inequalities in our world, and tackle today’s biggest societal challenges such as digital inclusion, climate change and sustainability. ✔️ Industry Solutions supports the technology and interoperability that make mobile work. For instance, we assist the industry’s development in areas such as 5G, Mobile IoT, fraud and security, through our projects, working groups and other collaborative activities. ✔️ Our events provide successful ways of bringing the ecosystem and adjacent industries together, to make strong business connections and drive positive impact. From the world’s largest and most influential connectivity event, MWC, in Barcelona, Shanghai, Las Vegas, Kigali & Doha, to the growing M360 series that has a more regional focus.

AI is not just changing #telecom operations — it is beginning to redefine the very nature of the network itself. Telecom is entering a new era - one where networks are no longer only connecting people and devices, but increasingly connecting data, context, intelligence, and decision-making. As part of our growing GSMA Advance Alumni Webinar Series, we were delighted to host Merouane Debbah, Senior Director of the Digital Future Institute at Khalifa University, for an exclusive session exploring: “From Bits to Tokens: How AI Is Redefining Telecom.” The session unpacked how #AI is beginning to reshape the telecom industry - from the evolution of network intelligence and automation, to the emergence of generative AI and its implications for how networks are designed, operated, and monetised. Importantly, the discussion also highlighted that AI in telecom is no longer a future concept. It is becoming a strategic industry capability. This webinar also marks the beginning of a broader #GSMA Advance conversation around AI and its growing impact across the telecom ecosystem - a topic we look forward to exploring further with our global learning community in the months ahead. Through #GSMAAdvance accreditations and alumni engagement, we are committed to supporting professionals with ongoing access to expert insight, emerging industry perspectives, and continuous learning opportunities throughout the year. As private networks move from concept to real-world deployment, the conversation is shifting from hype to practical implementation. Questions around deployment models, spectrum strategy, and ecosystem collaboration are now front and centre for enterprises and the wider telecom industry. Sectors with mission‑critical operations and high automation needs including manufacturing and industrial industries are driving demand for private networks. The GSMA Private Networks Community together with the GSMA Connected Manufacturing and Production Community and 5G-ACIA brings together key stakeholders to provide a structured, practical view on how private 5G is being designed and deployed today for these industries. In this live session with GSMA - Networks, we will explore 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆: 𝗛𝘆𝗽𝗲, 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴, unpacking the latest industry thinking and real-world experiences. The session will open with an introduction to the GSMA Private Networks Community, followed by insights from 5G Alliance for Connected Industries and Automation (5G-ACIA) on the role of private networks in industrial transformation. The panel will bring together perspectives from across the ecosystem including network vendors, mobile operators, integrators, and end users to examine the key decisions shaping private network deployments today. Speakers include: ✔️ Jo Gilbert, GSMA ✔️ David Roberts, GSMA ✔️ Afif Osseiran, 5G-ACIA ✔️ Todd Ashton, Ericsson ✔️ Farès Sakka, Orange Business ✔️ + more to be announced soon Don’t miss it! Building telco-grade #AI takes more than frontier models. It takes an ecosystem. That's why 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼 𝗔𝗜 is open by design. 46+ organizations across 35 countries — operators, vendors, academic institutions, AI developers — working together to build the foundations the industry needs: open models trained on real network data, shared datasets that reflect telco environments, and benchmarks tested against the tasks networks demand. AT&T and SoftBank Group Corp. in the top 4 models. AMD providing compute capacity. Contributions from Huawei, KDDI Corporation NVIDIA, Orange, SK Telecom, Vodafone, and 30+ more. This isn't a product. It's a platform. And it only works when we build it together. Because the AI that transforms networks won't come from a single lab. It comes from collaboration at scale.
