  • High-strength steel has almost an infinite amount of uses — one of them being springs. 🌀 InfiniSpring isolates sound and vibrations and protects structures from shock, like any ordinary spring. But that’s where the similarities end. For a very long time the conventional solutions looked the same: elastomers (rubber-like solids with elastic properties), coil springs and rubber pads suffering from poor performance and low durability. InfiniSpring is manufactured from a single sheet of high-strength steel using laser cutting only. The cut-out design results in high flexibility together with high static load carrying capacity in all directions. This way shock protection, vibration and sound isolation is built into the steel structure itself. 🔩 The spring has a wide range of uses, protecting rotational and vibratory machines as well as sensitive equipment. Its thin construction requires little space and allows installation in any mounting, spring size or load, with load capacity increasing as plate thickness increases. The solution has been patented, tested, and validated for performance and durability. It saves material, time and money, revolutionizing the spring industry. #Steel #HighStrengthSteel #InfiniSpring #Spring

  • We’re happy to announce that SSAB has decided to invest SEK 3.3 billion in a new quenching line in Oxelösund, Sweden. 🌟 The new quenching and tempering (Q&T) line will be essential for our ability to grow in advanced wear steels and protection steels, such as Hardox® 500 Tuf and Armox®. The production start is planned for 2030. “The demand for protection steel is growing globally, and SSAB’s unique offerings give us a leadership position with customers in the defense industry. In addition, growth continues to be strong for other advanced steels, including wear steels. This new quenching line will initially add around 100 thousand tonnes in capacity enabling us to serve the most advanced customer needs,” says Per Elfgren, Head of SSAB Special Steels. • Congratulations AQS Æge — the world’s first ship made with SSAB Zero™ steel! ⚓ Last week, our subsidiary Tibnor Norge had the honor of participating in the christening of the vessel in Bergen, Norway. The 30-meter, electric-powered supply ship was built by Salthammer Båtbyggeri AS and commissioned by AQS AS. Tibnor delivered the SSAB Zero™ steel, produced from recycled scrap using fossil-free electricity and biogas, resulting in up to 70% lower fossil CO₂ emissions than conventional steel. #SSABZero #RecycledSteel #ShipBuilding

  • New Volvo EX60 is the first car in the world to use our SSAB Zero™ steel in serial production. 🚘 The steel is produced from recycled scrap using fossil-free electricity and biogas, resulting in up to 70% lower fossil CO₂ emissions than conventional steel — without compromising strength, safety, or quality. Going electric isn’t enough to reduce the carbon footprint of cars. That’s why Volvo Cars’ EX60 contains SSAB Zero™ steel. • There’s one single project that doesn’t go unnoticed by anyone in Sweden’s capital, Stockholm: the redevelopment of Slussen. 🏗️ Originally built in 1642 to bridge Södermalm and the Old Town, the new Slussen is no mere renovation — it’s a total transformation of a historic junction that serves a quarter of a million passengers every day. To call it one of Sweden’s most complex infrastructure projects is an understatement. It is a feat of precision and modern engineering. A project of this magnitude requires a foundation that never yields. Deep beneath the surface lies 117,000 meters of SSAB steel piles — roughly 10,700 tonnes of high-strength steel providing the stability for this unique construction. When fully completed in 2028, Slussen will be a modern hub for both people as well as waterways and all modes of transportation. From the depths of Stockholm’s bedrock to the skyline above, we’re proud to write a new chapter of urban infrastructure. #Slussen #SteelPile #Infrastructure

  • CEO Johnny Sjöström in SSAB’s report for Q1 2026: “SSAB’s operating result for the first quarter of 2026 amounted to SEK 2,201 (1,351) million. The improvement was mainly related to higher results in SSAB Europe and SSAB Americas. The shipments of advanced steels were at a good level in the first quarter, and growth in these steels is a key in SSAB’s strategy to accelerate premium leadership.” Read the full report ➡ https://lnkd.in/dBRVv7eK #Q1 #Q1Report

  • We’re thrilled that SSAB steel helped build Helsinki’s new Kruunuvuori Bridge — the longest and tallest bridge in Finland. 🏗️ The Kruunuvuori Bridge is approximately 1,200 metres long, and its central pylon rises to a height of 135 metres. But its most impressive feature isn’t its scale, it’s its purpose: Kruunuvuori Bridge is dedicated solely to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. Zero private cars. The bridge links the city centre to residential areas and includes around 3,000 tonnes of SSAB’s high‑strength steel in its structure, together with driven and drilled steel piles in the foundations. Join us celebrating this landmark for sustainable mobility! 🎉 #SSABDomex #SteelPile #KruunuvuoriBridge

We’re happy to announce that Business Finland has granted SSAB 20 million euros for our new “Sustainable World through Steels” research and development program. 🌱 The program is aimed at the transition to fossil-free steel production and the development of low carbon products. The objective is to create an ecosystem comprising more than 200 partners, including research institutes and universities, digitalization partners, other steel producers, technology developers, and customers. “This funding is a significant enabler on our journey toward low‑carbon steel production and the development of a fully fossil‑free value chain. It is an honor for SSAB to act as the initiator and leader of this new collaboration program,” says Tony Harris, Head of SSAB Europe. Together with Heidelberg Materials, we’re entering a collaboration to develop electric arc furnace (EAF) slag into an alternative binder in cement. 🔬 The project aims to develop EAF slag into an efficient and more sustainable alternative binder, known as a supplementary cementitious material (SCM), to reduce the climate footprint of the construction sector. “Our ambition is to develop applications for the slag that will be generated in electric arc furnaces in the near future. Through this project, we are seizing these opportunities by combining strong expertise and long experience with a shared determination to drive change,” says Marko Mäkikyrö, Director, By-product Sales & Development at SSAB. The project brings together leading expertise also from Luleå University of Technology, University of Oulu and Swerim AB, and it has been granted funding through Tillvaxtverket, the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth. Finland’s longest and highest bridge will soon open to the public, and we’re proud that SSAB steel is part of this landmark project. 🌉 The Kruunuvuori Bridge in Helsinki exemplifies modern, sustainable infrastructure development, and more than 3,000 tonnes of SSAB Domex® structural steel form the backbone of the bridge’s structures. We have also supplied driven piles with special rock shoes as well as drilled piles for the bridge foundations. Throughout the project, minimizing carbon dioxide emissions and environmental impacts has been a key requirement for all suppliers. The properties of SSAB steel — high strength, long service life and good formability — supported material‑efficient design and the implementation of lighter structures.
