this is the worst website builder app I…
this is the worst website builder app I have ever used. It's too complicated for building something very simple. Too many variables and parameters that will destroy my entire page easily. I kept debugging what I set wrong in every step. Even simply creating a text box can lead to issues that you have to do something extra so it doesn't go crazy when the broswer size change. screw this app. really piss me off.
I want to be fair about what Framer…
I want to be fair about what Framer actually does well, because it does some things genuinely well. The no-code build speed is real — complex, high-performance sites can come together faster here than almost anywhere else, and the output quality is high when the workflow cooperates. I came in as a self-taught developer looking for something that could bridge design and deployment, and on that surface promise it delivers. The problems begin the moment you need support or want to leave. When I tried to cancel my subscription, the dashboard offered no clear path to do so. The chatbot routed every cancellation-related query into a loop and then stopped responding. Human support eventually replied, but the gap was long enough to catch another billing cycle. That experience alone changed how I view the product. The AI features are marketed prominently but performed inconsistently in my use. Requests that should have been straightforward produced outputs that didn't reflect what I'd asked for — not occasionally, but regularly enough to become unreliable as a workflow tool. Ecosystem flexibility is also more limited than the onboarding suggests. Project transfers and several features I expected at my plan level turned out to require upgrades that weren't disclosed clearly before I committed. For EU-based users, the GDPR implications of their CDN infrastructure are worth investigating independently before signing up — this came up repeatedly in my own research, and support engagement on the topic was limited. Two stars because the core technology is genuinely good. Everything built around it — billing, support, transparency — is not. For a subscription product, that imbalance is hard to overlook.
THEY WILL CHARGE YOU FOREVER
Terrible experience. Cannot cancel the subscription in their dashboard, it has no option to cancel. I've contacted their team to request cancellation of the subscription, but was dismissed, and they have continued to charge me for months. I'm going to proceed with legal action if this is not resolved.
STAY AWAY!
No trial period, beware, it is not what their ads say
It is not for amateurs like their social media influencer army claims to promote, if anything it is utterly complex and weird to use compared to lovable. They do not offer a trial period and charge a hefty amount upfront, lucky I did not get sucked into going for an annual plan. I would recommend caution before hitting your pay now button, they are not offering any trial period so you will be going in blind..
How can this be so complicated?
Everything that is just a simple click in Wordpress is a full task in Framer. How can this be so complicated?
I end up using the support on a daily basis for usually simple tasks. And then the chatbot can't answer the simple questions or gives incorrect ansswers and you end up waiting for a real persons's answer for a day.
Keep your fingers away from it.
Hidden $30 monthly charge for inviting…
Hidden $30 monthly charge for inviting one additional editor – classic dark pattern
Framer silently charged me $30 after I invited one additional user to edit my project.
Nowhere during the invitation process was there any clear warning, price display, or confirmation that this would cost $30 per month. No pop-up, no mention of billing — nothing.
A month later the money was automatically deducted from my card without any prior notice. This is deceptive billing and a textbook hidden fee.
I've been trying to cancel my…
I've been trying to cancel my subscription with Framer for several hours now. Their support page is outdated and doesn't understand the current layout of the admin page, and their 'chat' service is completely useless - quick to respond until you mention cancellation, at which point it completely stops responding. Avoid.
I had a very disappointing experience.
I had a very disappointing experience.
First of all, the pricing is quite high, especially considering how limited the Basic plans are. Many essential features feel restricted unless you upgrade, which makes it hard to justify the cost.
I also ran into a major issue with project transfers. I created websites and transferred them to clients using the built-in Project Transfer feature, assuming that was all I needed to do. Only afterward was I informed that I also had to register in a separate section. This requirement was not made clear upfront, and it caused unnecessary confusion and inconvenience.
On top of that, I was denied approval for the affiliate program for reasons that feel completely unreasonable. I was told I need to have a page with at least 1,000 followers and that I must already be creating content about graphic or web design. This is frankly ridiculous — how am I supposed to grow my business and start creating websites for clients using Framer if I’m blocked just because I don’t have an established Instagram page?
Overall, a frustrating and limiting experience. At this point, I’m seriously considering going back to WordPress.
I had a good looking site on Framer
I had a good looking site on Framer, eventually outgrew it and needed to own my own codebase. I lost access to my account due to losing a domain and customer support helped me get it back, in the interim I was charged a subscription fee, but they refunded when asked.
The absolute best app out there
The absolute best app out there. Managed to ship 300+ page website in a month. 6 months after it's become our best customer aquisition chanel. Even non designers can make changes and publish. No coding knowledge needed.
Awful customer support
Awful customer support - not willing to work with you on issues.
Wish I read the reviews prior!
Bought a basic plan for framer to make a very minimalistic site to show services I offer and how to contact me.
Originally the structure was okay. As soon as you ask the AI for a simple request it does something completely different. Only giving it 2 stars as I was refunded relatively quickly.
I would avoid this website
Absolute garbage. Not GDPR compliant in Germany.
Framer is not GDPR compliant in Germany, and you cannot realistically make it compliant due to their CDN setup. Support simply ignores GDPR-related questions instead of providing proper answers.
The pricing is unnecessarily expensive, flexibility is limited, and you’re heavily locked into the Framer ecosystem.
Worst case: you spend weeks building a great website and then realize Framer is far too restrictive.
Tip: Export your Framer design via Figma and use Claude AI to rebuild the entire site in clean HTML + CSS. Took me 1–2 hours, and the result runs better than before. Finally independent from Framer.
Great at first but limiting and over-complicated at times
It was great at first but was limited in design capabilities and user experience in building site is not great. Although it seems like a simple builder to use, it's not and somehow feels overcomplicated. I would have come back to this tool but when trying to cancel the subscription, they hid the button and made it impossible to cancel. It's not a great customer experience and has completely turned me off from ever coming back to this brand.
customer service sucks
Framer offers a year for free for students. You have to submit an enrollment letter proving you're currently enrolled and they say they will get back to you within 5 business days. I was in a time crunch and needed to launch my portfolio for a deadline. The 5 business days are up and no response. I went ahead and tried to do a discount my school offers for alumni instead to speed up the process. There was an issue with the code disappearing during checkout and I purchased a plan without realizing (I'm a new parent and I'm doing everything pretty quickly and foggy-headed, so easy to make mistakes). I have reached out about it in two forms - email and the chat feature offered to paying customers. The email response was quick, but the process was so complicated - starting a new workspace, duplicating everything, transferring over all that info, then repurchasing. They didn't even mention what would happen with the original purchase. I turned to the chat feature and once AI couldn't help me anymore, two agent user profile pictures appeared in the chat. I continued my chat and sent a file proving I'm enrolled, and no one answered me for 10-15 minutes before I closed the chat. Horrible customer service.
completely oversold as a design tool…
completely oversold as a design tool for designers, without coding. I experienced this for 3 weeks trying to build a portfolio. I have no coding experience but i have used elementor with wordspress which is a drag and drop element builder.
This is massively over complicated and is not for people who are just 'designers' with coding. I can see it has potential in the hands of web designers, but in the hands of someone who is a digital or print designer, it is a waste of time and money. Use the free version and try it for yourself. I'm sure you'll end up going back to a PDF of your work.
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. I would not recommend, everyone has a different story, and you get bounced around between providers for three days.
Powerful for Designers, but Lacks Crucial Features for Professional Use
I need to find a reason to recommend it to my clients. Webflow is better in terms of price and features, and even Squarespace has a better business model. Framer doesn't have good customer service and is limited if you want to set up e-commerce, have multiple languages, or more than one address. I'm also not happy with the performance for mobile, adding meta snippets and Seo Features.
Enjoyed using it, terrible customer service
I have enjoyed using Framer and it's got a great user interface for someone who doesn't know how to code - created a portolio project on there, made a barcode that links to my site and printed it on cards and all sorts. Then at the start of 2026 they removed some of the free domains, forcing me to either pay for the domain or reprint everything. Customer support was really unhelpful
Avoid, unfair, poor support, one mistake and now I have to pay extra $1,000
Avoid - bad support, made 1 click mistake on a plan that didn't suite me and now they refuse to revert it or reimburse me even though I told them a few hours after my honest mistake and didn't use the plan, this shows what a short sighted company this is, look at this awful rating on trust pilot - only a company that doesn't care about their reviews at all will allow it, very poor service, also the reps just tell you bye when they decided to and just ghost you, very unprofessional, simply not worth it, too many better alternatives - invest in site builders that have good reviews - it shows that they care about their customer, framer clearly doesn't and doesn't deserve customers
