Climate change is actively disrupting production, supply chains and resource availability. Businesses need real-time visibility into how products are designed, sourced, manufactured, transported, used and recycled. The demand for critical minerals used in clean energy technologies could grow by nearly 3.5 times by 2030. Here’s how different sectors are being affected and the approaches businesses are adopting to stay future-ready. Mining & Metals Key Risks • Resource extraction is becoming more energy and water intensive. • Supply chain instability is impacting raw material availability. Approach • Expanding recycling and material recovery initiatives. • Reducing dependence on virgin extraction. • Building circular supply chains for critical materials. Agriculture & Food Systems Key Risks • Rising temperatures and soil degradation are reducing crop productivity. • Water scarcity is increasing irrigation and fertilizer costs. Approach • Using precision farming technologies for water and fertilizer optimization. • Investing in biodiversity restoration and climate-resilient crops. Technology Key Risks • Global e-waste reached more than 62 million metric tons in 2022, yet only around 22% was formally recycled. • Data centers consume massive amounts of energy and water. Approach • Improving resource efficiency in infrastructure. • Increasing renewable energy adoption across operations. Manufacturing Key Risks • Floods, heatwaves and resource shortages are increasing production costs. • Carbon-intensive operations face growing regulatory pressure. Approach • Integrating renewable energy into production systems. • Using recycled materials and low-impact manufacturing models. This is where Trace Circle comes in. • Tracks the complete product lifecycle journey. • Calculates carbon emissions across the value chain. • Monitors energy usage and water consumption. • Measures waste generation and material impact. • Enables transparent and traceable sustainability reporting. Most organisations have world-class governance ambitions. Very few have the systems to deliver them. Our CEO, Dr. Romeo Effs, was at the UNECE Sustainable Energy and UNECE - United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Workshop, and this is what he brought back. "We do not lack frameworks. What we lack is consistent execution." Three things that stood out: 1. The execution gap is the real sustainability crisis. 2. The distance between what organisations intend and what they actually deliver that is where ESG promises collapse. It is also where we work. 3. Data is not admin. It is governance. Poor assumptions lead to poor policies. Bringing science and transparency into resource decisions is strategic governance. Full stop. Waste is a governance failure. Circularity cannot be an afterthought. It has to be designed in from day one across extraction, reuse, recycling and end-of-life. Abandoning a mine site after extraction is not a social issue. It is a board-level failure. The organisations that will lead the energy transition are not the ones with the best slogans. They are the ones that build institutions, data capability and disciplined implementation. That is what we help leadership teams do here at Lumorus. 📩 If your organisation is navigating governance, ESG compliance or resource decision-making, let's talk. https://zurl.co/pfkc9 #ResourceGovernance #EnergyTransition #ESG #CorporateGovernance #CriticalMinerals #Lumorus #UNECE #Sustainability

Our Managing Director, Dr.Anand Vashi, will be attending the Global Water Summit 2026 in Madrid from 18–20 May, engaging with global leaders, utilities, financiers, and innovators shaping the next era of water resilience and circularity. This year is especially significant as our parent company Enviro Control Private Limited has been shortlisted for the Global Water Award – Water Project of the Year for delivering the world’s largest 160 MLD Water Treatment Plant based on ceramic membrane technology for long‑chain PFAS removal — a landmark achievement in advanced water treatment and public health protection. Through Enviro Control UK and our WAVES - Global Innovation Hub, we remain committed to: • Advancing high‑performance, climate‑resilient treatment technologies • Strengthening UK–India technical collaboration • Accelerating innovation across the water sector We look forward to meaningful discussions in Madrid and to contributing to a more sustainable global water future.💦 #EnviroControlUK #GlobalWaterSummit #GWS2026 #UKIndia #WaterReuse #PFAS #Innovation #WAVES #WaterIndustry #Sustainability

Most sustainability conversations are won by slogans. The ones that actually matter are won by institutions, data, and disciplined implementation. That was my biggest takeaway from last week's workshop with UNECE - United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and UNECE Sustainable Energy. Three takeaways for me: 1. The gap that actually holds us back: We do not lack frameworks. What we consistently lack is execution. The biggest challenge in sustainability today is not ambition; it is the bridge between ambition and implementation. I see this constantly in the work we do at Lumorus. 2. Data is not housekeeping. It is governance: There is a lot of noise around energy transition and critical minerals. Some of it is useful. A lot of it is not grounded in evidence. Poor assumptions lead to poor policies, poor decisions and poor outcomes. Bringing science and transparency into resource decisions is not a technical exercise. It is strategic governance. 3. Waste is not an environmental issue. It is a governance failure: We cannot keep thinking only in terms of extraction. Circularity, reuse, recycling, material flows, and end-of-life planning have to be built into the system from the design phase. Abandoning a mine site after extraction is not just a social problem. It is a governance failure, a design failure, and increasingly a business failure. The answer is not to choose between global consistency and local context. The answer is to build systems strong enough to hold both. Responsible resource management is not just about protecting the planet. It is about building economies, protecting societies, and creating organisations and systems that can deliver lasting value for all stakeholders. If your organisation is sitting on strong ambitions but struggling with the implementation, whether that is governance frameworks, board accountability, ESG reporting or resource decision-making, that is exactly the work we do at Lumorus. We help leadership teams close the gap between what they intend and what they actually deliver. #ResourceGovernance #EnergyTransition #CriticalMinerals #Circularity #Lumorus #UNECE #SustainableEnergy #Leadership

On Tuesday 5 May, 4:30 pm, WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development is hosting a networking reception in Munich at IFAT worldwide, the global meeting place for environmental technologies, focused on scaling decarbonisation solutions and catalysing implementation. If you will be at the fair, we would love to have you with us for the reception: 📩 https://lnkd.in/etVGKB_N One of IFAT's central themes this year is "Circularity is a must," and it is hard to argue with that framing. The solutions are there. The question is how to deploy them profitably, credibly and at scale. That is exactly where the pressure sits for most companies right now. At WBCSD, we have been working on two pieces that are directly relevant to this conversation. The Global Circularity Protocol for Business, launched at COP30, gives companies a science-based framework to measure, manage and disclose circularity across value chains, the piece that has long been missing. https://lnkd.in/dpV6PcpJ And the Avoided Emissions Implementation Hub brings together real-world use cases and sector-specific guidance for companies wanting to account for the emissions their solutions enable others to avoid. https://lnkd.in/dMfDpch9 If you will be at IFAT, let me know what is on your mind. Where are the real bottlenecks when it comes to moving from pilots to scale?
