I was also able to showcase our innovative collaboration with Visit Glasgow and Tour Partner Group. What a great week bringing entertainment and tourism industries together as part of the largest trade delegation ever to come to 🇺🇸 from 🇬🇧- it was great to be part of this VisitBritain discussion, thanks for a great event #GreaterTogetherLA

It’s been a huge week for us at British Airways, as we flew out the largest ever UK delegation of leaders and entrepreneurs from across government, industry, and business on a special charter flight to Los Angeles. This was part of the Government’s Greater Together LA initiative – the fourth government trade mission BA has supported recently. The delegation was tasked with working with US counterparts to discuss how to create and grow greater and better connections and drive economic growth between the UK and US. At British Airways, the US is our biggest market and we know what we do, every day, along with our partner American Airlines, supports and enables the creation of these connections. At BA, we fly direct to 27 destinations in the US, and this year marks 65 years of flights between London and LA. Team BA and Team AA were proud to come together at the Greater Together event space to facilitate some of the important networking conversations between delegates – and invite them to try their hand at flying a 787 on our simulator (we were honoured to watch the incredible Tim Peake CMG effortlessly land the aircraft), take a look at our new First suite on our VR headsets, and try out some of the fantastic English wines and the Grind coffee (the iced Strawberry Mocha was a real treat in the heat) that we’re proud to serve on board. We were honoured to host Gareth Southgate at our evening event in West Hollywood. Our team also managed to catch up with Simon Cowell and Leona Lewis, who were on stage discussing shared UK and US creative ambition. Our people, partners, and suppliers all make BA what it is – we’re so grateful to Team BA, and to David Abrahamovitch, and everyone who came together to make it all happen. I’m so proud of the leading role British Airways played this week to support the UK government’s Greater Together LA trade mission, which brought together industry leaders and entrepreneurs from a range of sectors to discuss how we can drive economic growth and build better connections between the UK and US. We were honoured to fly the largest ever UK delegation on a special charter flight to Los Angeles – the fourth Government trade mission we’ve supported recently. I was pleased to be able to join the GREAT campaign’s event in LA and speak as part of the programme, along with Robert Isom, CEO of American Airlines. We talked about our enduring transatlantic partnership and how we continue to work together so closely to connect our two countries, focusing on creating a more seamless travel experience for customers. At British Airways, we’ve always been focused on connecting people – we fly direct to 27 destinations in the US, and this year marks 65 years of flights between London and LA. What we do brings people together and supports the work the delegation is looking to achieve. Over three days in LA, I was fortunate to spend time with a number of inspirational figures from various industry sectors, including the brilliant Gareth Southgate and Tim Peake CMG. I got to understand more about the work they’re doing to promote the UK and British innovation in the US, and it really got me thinking about how much more we can do to help with and facilitate these connections. I was so impressed with Team BA who – along with American Airlines – set up the brilliant lounge in the Greater Together event space to support the delegation in the searing LA heat. One of my favourite memories of the week was hosting and meeting so many people at the lounge and showcasing what we do – inviting delegates to try their hand at flying a 787 on our simulator (including Tim, who made landing a plane look effortless), take a look at our new First suite, and try out some of the fantastic English wines and the Grind coffee we’re proud to serve on board.
