We are proud to celebrate an important milestone for four remarkable women who are helping shape the future of Zambia’s gemstone and jewellery sector. Originally trained as gem cutters, they have completed their diploma studies in teaching methodoloy, marking a powerful transition from skilled artisans to educators and mentors. This journey has not only strengthened their technical expertise, but also built the confidence, communication, and leadership skills needed to guide others. As one graduate shared, teaching is not just about delivering knowledge, but about connecting with learners and supporting their growth. This mindset is exactly what the industry needs as it evolves. The next chapter is already underway. These women will step into paid teaching roles with DTA, contributing to the goldsmithing and jewellery manufacturing diploma programs at the Technical and Vocational Teachers College (TVTC) and Mukuni Goldsmith and Lapidary Atelier. Their work will directly support the development of the next generation of Zambia's jewellery and gemstone talent. This is more than a graduation. It is a step toward greater inclusion, stronger skills development, and more women in leadership within the sector. Behind every skilled graduate is an ecosystem of support, investment, and belief in what is possible. Expanding opportunities for women in the gemstone and jewellery sector requires partners who are ready to move from intention to action. By collaborating with us and funding future cohorts, you play a direct role in creating paid teaching pathways that turn expertise into leadership and impact. Thank you to Mejuri Holly McHugh (she/her) Noura Sakkijha and Candace Steinhart for your immense support.
