I'm thrilled to share that on May 5th, IFC successfully hosted Manufacturing Forward in Mexico City, IFC's first Manufacturing event in Latin America and the Caribbean!   The event gathered about 50 C-suite executives from Mexico's leading manufacturing firms alongside high-level representation from across the World Bank Group, creating a truly powerful platform for dialogue at the intersection of industry, policy, and development finance. The agenda was ambitious and forward-looking, featuring high-caliber panel discussions and fireside sessions on the most pressing topics shaping the sector's transformation: manufacturing competitiveness, nearshoring and evolving trade dynamics, decarbonization and circularity, supply chain resilience, industries of tomorrow, and technology transition.   A particularly timely session explored how firms and countries are building resilience in today's complex and rapidly shifting global environment. The energy in the room was palpable and the conversations were substantive, insightful, and inspiring, yielding actionable insights on the policy reforms and industry strategies needed to drive a more competitive, resilient, and sustainable manufacturing ecosystem in Mexico. Beyond the ideas generated, the event firmly positioned IFC and the World Bank Group as a trusted partner and strategic convener for Mexico's manufacturing agenda, deepening our relationships with key industry leaders and decision-makers. This engagement positions us to increase our impact with a clear focus: promoting competitive and resilient industrial development that creates quality, sustainable jobs and mobilizes private capital at scale.   I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the participants, panelists, and keynote speakers, as well as World Bank Group regional and industry leadership, for bringing such energy, expertise, and commitment to these conversations.   Panelists and keynote speakers: Juan Carlos Baker Pineda @francisco gonzalez diaz Jael Durán Trevor Best Ariel Abam Odracir Barquera Javier Valadez Ortega Alberto de Icaza, Ernesto Stein Juan Leonardo Ruiz Velasco Fernandez Mario Sergio Ramirez-Zablah Limon Mauricio Justus Carlos MEDINA Mauricio Cortes Ariel Blumenkranc Daniela Calleja Jaime Zabludovsky Tania Rabasa Kovacs   IFC and World Bank Group: Alfonso García Mora Sanaa Abouzaid Olaf Schmidt Denis Medvedev Femi Akinrebiyo Stefka Slavova Verónica Navas. Special thanks to Javier Posas for his outstanding leadership in organizing this event and to Robert A. Cerdan for leading the Manufacturing Sector in Latin America. And the entire organizing team who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring this event to life: Grisell M. Mauricio González Lara Carlos Zafra Emilia Francois Anais Furia Simone Ramseier Suzane Simões de Sá   This is just the beginning of what promises to be a truly exciting journey for IFC's manufacturing engagement in Mexico, and I couldn't be more energized about what lies ahead!

• Manufacturing as a driver of growth and integration in Mexico Manufacturing Forward: Mexico Leadership Summit, organized by The World Bank Group, brought together experts and sector leaders to discuss how Mexico can compete as global value chains are being redrawn. The conversation centered on: attracting sustainable manufacturing investment, bringing more SMEs into global value chains, closing talent and skills gaps, and turning regional integration into quality jobs. Participants also discussed the enablers that will make or break this agenda: supply chain resilience, digitalization and AI adoption, decarbonization, and the long-term investment needed to sustain industrial growth.
