The 2024 VET in Schools report shows continued growth in vocational education pathways for Australian students — with participation rising 5.8% from 2023, marking the highest growth since NCVR’s reporting began in 2006. More than one in four students aged 15–19 are now taking part in VET programs as part of their senior secondary studies. This reflects the growing appeal of hands-on learning and strong collaboration between governments, schools, and training providers. At ACCM College, we’re proud to support this growth by delivering nationally recognised qualifications for School Based Trainees across NSW. Our flexible online programs and dedicated support help students build real-world skills while finalising their schooling. 🚀 Preparing students for life beyond the classroom. At West Virginia Virtual Academy, the TechBridge program lets students continue their core classes online while attending local tech centers for hands-on training in skilled trades like welding, cosmetology, and culinary arts. Students earn industry credentials, build real-world skills, and gain opportunities that prepare them for college, apprenticeships, and careers. TechBridge shows how virtual learning can provide flexibility without sacrificing hands-on, career-ready experiences. https://bit.ly/4gT6CMF

There are many exciting career opportunities and no single "right" way to pursue them, the Ladder team advises. The traditional academic route is just one option. There are many different pathways into a chosen career and you may decide to change direction if the path you first chose does not feel right for you. Your success does not depend solely on exam grades and if a chosen course does not feel right, it is always possible to change direction. While students are required by law to remain in education until the age of 18, this does not necessarily mean staying on at school or college. Vocational learning, apprenticeships and work-based training are all equally valid routes. To help young people and their families explore the full range of post-16 opportunities, a dedicated website – https://lnkd.in/eMgE5H63 – brings together independent training providers, colleges, and details of available courses and support.
