When HISP began working with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance in 2018, only 7 of 54 Gavi-supported countries had integrated immunization data into their national health systems. Today, that number is 40. Our team at the HISP Centre at University of Oslo reflects on eight years of partnership, including what works, what doesn't, and what comes next for country-led, data-driven immunization delivery. https://buff.ly/Am15drj #DHIS2 #GlobalHealth #Immunization #VaccinesWork #DigitalHealth #HealthData #ZeroDose #VaccineEquity

As we observe World Immunization Week (April 24-30), I am reflecting on the theme: "For every generation, vaccines work." Vaccines represent one of the greatest achievements in public health history, having saved approximately 150 million lives. Despite this progress, the challenge persists: in 2024, 20 million children worldwide missed out on at least one essential vaccine dose. As a healthcare professional and leader, I believe our responsibility is three-fold: 1. Education: Promoting data-driven, scientific awareness. 2. Advocacy: Addressing vaccine hesitancy through open, transparent dialogue. 3. Action: Encouraging families to make informed, evidence-based decisions for their health. Safeguarding future generations is a collective mandate. Let us continue to strengthen our immunization systems to ensure no child is left behind. #WorldImmunizationWeek #VaccinesWork #GlobalHealth #PublicHealthPolicy #IAP #Immunization #HealthcareLeadership #ProfYogeshNParikh

This World Immunization Week, the focus is on what makes vaccines work: strong, responsive systems. In Zanzibar, training and support through the Integrated Laboratory Transport Systems to Stop Outbreaks program are helping community health workers identify danger signs earlier, strengthen surveillance and connect families to care. These same systems are critical for immunization—ensuring outbreaks are detected early and communities are protected. 📖 Read the story: https://bit.ly/4rZMRH3 #WorldImmunizationWeek #VaccinesWork #ForEveryGeneration #Immunization #GlobalHealth #HealthEquity #CommunityHealth #VillageReach #WIW2026

National Immunization Awareness Week is an opportunity to focus on practical, system-level actions that can improve vaccine uptake and strengthen Canada’s resilience to vaccine-preventable respiratory illness. In our latest Our Voice blog, we focus on closing the immunization gap through practical policy and delivery improvements: clearer education and more convenient access points in the community. Across Canada, some populations, including older adults and people living with chronic conditions are more likely to experience serious outcomes from vaccine-preventable respiratory illnesses. Yet access and uptake remain uneven, driven by differences in awareness, affordability, and how easily immunization fits into daily life. To help close these gaps, we encourage coordinated action to improve consistency in publicly funded access to recommended vaccines and to strengthen delivery capacity where Canadians already seek care. Where appropriate, enabling pharmacists to vaccinate to the full scope of practice can be an important step to expand access and support timely immunization. Read the blog: A healthier, more resilient Canada starts with immunization access and education. #NIAW2026 #TheTimeIsNow #Immunization #PublicHealth #VaccineAccess #pharmacy https://lnkd.in/eNBzSj8Z

For every generation, vaccines work. As the world commemorates the 2026 Immunization Week, Heartland Alliance LTD/GTE (HALG) joins the global call to ensure that no child is left behind. In Katsina State, our work has focused on identifying and reaching zero-dose children, strengthening microplanning systems, and supporting large-scale immunization efforts built on real data. Because vaccines only work when every child is found, counted, and reached. #WorldImmunizationWeek #VaccinesWork #PublicHealth #Nigeria #HALG

New evidence from VillageReach and SCIDaR - Solina Centre for International Development and Research highlights why many children in Nigeria miss critical vaccines at 9 months, despite completing earlier routine immunizations. The study points to a combination of weakened follow-up, reduced urgency over time, negative service experiences, and stockouts as key drivers of delayed vaccination. Encouragingly, communities also co-designed practical solutions including door-to-door reminders, stronger sensitization, and improved tracking systems. A timely reminder that improving immunization coverage also means making services reliable and responsive for families. #Immunization #Vaccines #Nigeria #PublicHealth #GlobalHealth Susie Truog, Mariam Zameer, Dr. Funke Ogwa, Dr. Bannet Ndyanabangi, Freddy Nkosi

This year's ImmunizeVA Annual Meeting brought together a community that shows up year after year to improve Virginia's immunization rates, and the conversations we had reflected that commitment. A few takeaways from the event: 1. Protecting immunization rates may start with policy, but the work continues every day in exam rooms, inventory closets, and billing systems. 2. The pace at which Virginia's immunization community shares threats, strategies, and wins is something much of the country can learn from. 3. Practices want to keep vaccinating, but the operational and financial weight of running a program is harder to carry than it used to be. VaxCare exists to take vaccine workflow, inventory, and reimbursement off a practice's plate, so the clinical teams doing the actual immunizing can keep doing it well. Thank you to ImmunizeVA and everyone we met for the conversations and the shared commitment. #ImmunizeVA #PublicHealth #Immunization
