As we observe World Immunization Week (April 24-30), I am reflecting on the theme: "For every generation, vaccines work." Vaccines represent one of the greatest achievements in public health history, having saved approximately 150 million lives. Despite this progress, the challenge persists: in 2024, 20 million children worldwide missed out on at least one essential vaccine dose. As a healthcare professional and leader, I believe our responsibility is three-fold: 1. Education: Promoting data-driven, scientific awareness. 2. Advocacy: Addressing vaccine hesitancy through open, transparent dialogue. 3. Action: Encouraging families to make informed, evidence-based decisions for their health. Safeguarding future generations is a collective mandate. Let us continue to strengthen our immunization systems to ensure no child is left behind. #WorldImmunizationWeek #VaccinesWork #GlobalHealth #PublicHealthPolicy #IAP #Immunization #HealthcareLeadership #ProfYogeshNParikh

From health workers and community volunteers to supply chains and trusted conversations, immunization doesn’t happen by accident—it happens by design. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, VillageReach is working alongside governments and communities through an approach to strengthen routine immunization, so services are responsive, reliable and reach children who have too often been left out. 💡 When immunization systems are designed around people’s needs, vaccines can protect every generation, no matter where they live. 📽️ Watch how this work comes to life in communities: https://bit.ly/4uHKpb8 #WorldImmunizationWeek #VaccinesWork #ForEveryGeneration #Immunization #GlobalHealth #HealthEquity #CommunityHealth #VillageReach #WIW2026

Vaccines may be free for everyone, but that does not mean everyone has the same chance of being vaccinated. In this briefing from the 10th LifeCourse Prevention Summit, Michael Edelstein examines how system-level failures continue to drive immunization inequities, even in countries with high overall vaccine coverage. The discussion explores the difference between equality and equity in immunization, why vaccine uptake alone can hide important gaps in timeliness and completion, and how underserved communities often face very different barriers within the same health system. The briefing highlights the importance of culturally aware services, community trust, tailored approaches, and better data to truly understand and address vaccination inequities. This World Immunization Week, it’s worth pausing to recognize one of the most powerful tools in public health: vaccines. Immunization has saved millions of lives, prevented countless illnesses, and continues to protect communities across the globe. From childhood vaccines to emerging disease prevention, it’s not just about individual protection—it’s about collective responsibility. Yet, gaps in access, awareness, and trust still exist. Bridging these gaps requires collaboration between healthcare professionals, policymakers, organizations, and communities. Let’s use this week as a reminder to: • Advocate for equitable vaccine access • Combat misinformation with credible knowledge • Support immunization programs in our communities Because when more people are protected, everyone benefits. #WorldImmunizationWeek #VaccinesWork #PublicHealth #Immunization #Healthcare #Prevention #PavoCitricClinicalResearch

💉 World Immunization Week Immunization remains one of the most effective and well-established public health interventions, a cornerstone of prevention, backed by decades of scientific evidence and real-world impact. And yet, we continue to see proven methods like vaccination being questioned, while misinformation and fear-based narratives gain ground. For those of us working closely with the healthcare sector, this is not just frustrating, it is a clear reminder that progress cannot be taken for granted. Supporting vaccination is not only about public health, but about standing behind evidence, strengthening trust in institutions and ensuring that science continues to inform policy and public discourse. At The addcase, we believe that stakeholders in healthcare have a responsibility to champion what works, to support evidence-based practices, engage constructively in public dialogue and contribute to informed decision-making. Because “for every generation, vaccines work.” They have worked for us and it is our responsibility to ensure that future generations are equally protected from preventable diseases. #WorldImmunizationWeek #Vaccines #PublicHealth #HealthPolicy #EvidenceBased #PublicAffairs #theaddcase

It’s always a bit striking to see how something as established and effective as vaccination can still be questioned today. Working closely with healthcare stakeholders really puts that into perspective. Evidence matters, and so does how we defend it in public discussions!
