Interesting reading as indeed, vaccines only can bring benefit if they are used to vaccinate and if vaccination takes place. It is a long way starting with succesful development of a vaccine leading to regulatory authority approval. After that it is dependent on recommendations for use which als considers aspects of HTA. https://lnkd.in/eyHcZ6-Y

Reading this article on PhilHealth being urged to prioritize free vaccines over case rates made me reflect deeply. Preventive healthcare is not just about children—it must extend to adults as well. Too often, adult vaccination is overlooked, yet it plays a critical role in reducing hospitalizations, protecting vulnerable populations, and ensuring workforce productivity. Offering free vaccines would be a powerful step forward. But equally important is raising awareness and accessibility for adult immunization. Adults in remote areas, workers exposed to health risks, and those with chronic conditions deserve the same protection. Prevention should not stop at childhood—it should be a lifelong commitment. If we want a healthier, more resilient Philippines, we need to invest in adult vaccination programs now. The long-term savings in healthcare costs and the lives protected will far outweigh the initial investment. #Vaccineswork #PreventiveHealthcare #VaccinationAccess #RAISECoalition #PFV https://lnkd.in/gxjuzfVU https://lnkd.in/guS-qCic

The #EuropeanImmunizationWeek by WHO Regional Office for Europe continues today. Healthcare professionals must be equipped with skills and tools to communicate clearly and compassionately about vaccines. This helps particularly the hesitant people to feel informed, heard and confident in their #immunisation decisions. The European Vaccination Information Portal (EVIP) is an EU website that provides accurate, objective, up-to-date evidence on vaccines and #vaccination in general. It was developed by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), in partnership with the European Commission and the European Medicines Agency (EMA). This year, we observe the WHO World Immunisation Week with the theme 'For every generation, vaccines work'! Perfectly themed as we are starting to see progressive States in India beginning to move beyond a child‑only lens and recognising vaccination as a lifelong public health investment. The States of Goa and Kerala are leading the way on adult and senior immunisation: 🔹 Goa has announced a free statewide pneumococcal vaccination programme for 50,000 senior citizens, alongside broader investments in health system strengthening—clearly acknowledging the growing burden of vaccine‑preventable diseases among older adults. https://lnkd.in/gXiXm95W 🔹 Kerala, through its 2026–27 Budget, has formally set aside funds to initiate adult immunisation for those above 60 years, calling out pneumococcal disease as a neglected but high‑impact area—an important policy signal for lifecourse health planning. https://lnkd.in/gNrZFv4j These steps matter. With India’s demographic transition well underway, protecting adults and seniors against preventable infections is essential for healthy ageing, reduced hospitalisation, and resilient health systems. World Immunisation Week is a good reminder that vaccination does not end in childhood. Goa and Kerala have shown that sub‑national leadership can pave the way—hopefully inspiring wider adoption of lifecourse vaccination frameworks across the country.
