Somasamudra Solar Plant Powers Clean Energy in Karnataka

What if clean energy could power industries—and drive lasting change for communities too? Climate Fund Managers and Ampyr Energy have announced the commissioning of the Somasamudra Phase 1 solar plant in Karnataka, backed by the European Union-supported Climate Investor One Fund. 🇪🇺🇮🇳 The 67.5 MWp solar PV project will generate over 118 GWh of clean electricity annually, helping avoid more than 97,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year while supplying renewable power to commercial and industrial customers. This project was supported through Climate Investor One, a blended finance facility supported by the European Union and aligned with the EU’s Global Gateway strategy. This investment underscores a deep-rooted commitment to accelerating the industrial transition and supporting sustainable infrastructure in India. Together, the EU and India are transforming the energy landscape, one project at a time. Delegation of the European Union to India Why? Why? Why? How dare the Top 1% earning more than £27,000 post-tax choose to destroy the livelihoods of the people earning <£2,000 pre-tax? “When Did the 1% Earn the Right to Disrupt the 99%?” And yet… How — and when — did this 1% earn the right to disrupt the lives of the other 99%? Why do the richest voices on Earth feel entitled to decide that the Global South’s farmland, food systems, and livelihoods are acceptable collateral damage for their preferred version of “clean energy”? Why must the most land‑scarce nations sacrifice the very soil that feeds them? Why must communities who did not cause the climate crisis bear the burden of solving it? Why, why, why? Because here is the truth no one wants to say out loud: **Solar “farms” require land. The Global South does not have land to spare.** On their rice fields? On their fishing villages? On their food? When you take away land, you take away food. When you take away food, you take away dignity. When you take away dignity, people move.    https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7457442342266953728
