What if clean energy could power industries—and drive lasting change for communities too? Climate Fund Managers and Ampyr Energy have announced the commissioning of the Somasamudra Phase 1 solar plant in Karnataka, backed by the European Union-supported Climate Investor One Fund. 🇪🇺🇮🇳 The 67.5 MWp solar PV project will generate over 118 GWh of clean electricity annually, helping avoid more than 97,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year while supplying renewable power to commercial and industrial customers. This project was supported through Climate Investor One, a blended finance facility supported by the European Union and aligned with the EU’s Global Gateway strategy. This investment underscores a deep-rooted commitment to accelerating the industrial transition and supporting sustainable infrastructure in India. Together, the EU and India are transforming the energy landscape, one project at a time. Glad to share my recent article co authored with Debajit Palit, PhD exploring the social and environmental costs that lay hidden as renewable projects soars. It questions the underlying assumption that renewables are benign and socially good. As researchers in energy policy, it is prudent for us to celebrate the green and clean GW addition, at the same time also interrogate who actually bear the cost of this transition within the #energytransition? The article is published in Renewable Watch Magazine, you can read here: https://lnkd.in/gknFdh_c Chintan Research Foundation (CRF)

Global Leaders in Renewable Energy Capacity: The global energy landscape is undergoing a structural shift toward sustainability and long-term resilience. Here are the top countries by renewable energy capacity (GW): China – 2,258 United States – 467.9 India – 250.5 Brazil – 228.2 Germany – 199.9 Key Insight: Emerging economies like India and Brazil are rapidly scaling capacity, while China continues to dominate the global renewable space. This transition opens up significant opportunities across infrastructure, technology and capital markets. #RenewableEnergy #EnergyTransition #Sustainability #ClimateAction #GlobalMarkets #GreenInvesting #IndiaGrowth #Infrastructure #TradersCircuit

Completely agree! The future of energy is not just about generating more renewables - it’s about integrating them intelligently into the grid. With rising solar and wind penetration, challenges like the Duck Curve, curtailment, and evening ramp-up are becoming more prominent. This makes hybrid systems, Battery Energy Storage (BESS), and Pumped Storage essential for grid stability and reliable power supply. Well-designed PPAs that reward dispatchability, availability, and flexibility will play a critical role in making this integration successful and bankable. The real opportunity lies in moving from “just adding capacity” to “adding reliable, firm renewable capacity”. What are your thoughts? How important do you think storage and hybrid solutions will be for India’s energy transition in the next 3–5 years? Open to connect with power sector professionals, developers, Discoms, and investors! #RenewableEnergy #EnergyTransition #BESS #HybridRenewables #GridStability #SustainablePower #IndiaEnergy

Great insight Mike to kick off our attendance at All-Energy Exhibition and Conference. Stay tuned for more thoughts with myself and Olivier Sanga on how Sustainibility can help the success of #Energy schemes at #Planning - easy but important wins so often overlooked because clean energy is inherently sustainable.
Ahead of Olivier Sanga, Mike Barrett and Katy Isaac attending All-Energy Exhibition and Conference next month, each of them has shared their expertise around Shades of Green: Solar's Maturing Sustainability Debate. The first one, written by Olivier, focuses on: Is solar PV still the "green" silver bullet we believe it to be? ☀️ For years, simply generating clean energy was enough. But the goalposts have shifted. With energy-intensive manufacturing and a projected 78 million tonnes of solar panel waste by 2050, "sustainable" must now mean "accountable." At BWB, we believe the next phase of the energy transition will be defined by transparency, lifecycle performance, and true accountability. I’m pleased to share my latest article exploring the evolving sustainability debate around solar PV. As the industry matures, the conversation is moving towards lifecycle impacts, accountability, and what true sustainability means in practice. This is the first article in our “Shades of Green: Solar’s Maturing Sustainability Debate” series, with Katy and Mike soon exploring the social and economic aspects of the discussion. If you’re attending All-Energy Exhibition and Conference and would like to discuss sustainability in the energy sector, feel free to reach out.
