Senior Infrastructure Architect

Role summary:

This is a senior Systems Architect / Infrastructure and Cloud Architect role. It is not a standard systems engineer, support manager, or project manager. The candidate needs strong infrastructure architecture, cloud, leadership, documentation, and roadmap experience.

The person will serve as a lead across multiple IT sections and support enterprise-level initiatives. Responsibilities include:

• Leading multiple IT teams/sections
• Supporting .NET cluster upgrades and COTS solution upgrades
• Documenting existing infrastructure
• Creating public cloud migration documentation
• Developing technology roadmaps with milestones, dependencies, and cost-benefit analysis
• Creating As-Is / To-Be / gap analysis documentation
• Reviewing Disaster Recovery plans
• Providing weekly status updates and summary reports to leadership
• Helping with day-to-day operations when needed
• Coordinating with infrastructure, development, operations, and leadership teams

Work location:

The candidate can work remotely or onsite at FLHSMV headquarters in Tallahassee. This is a remote-capable position, but the candidate must be open to onsite support in Tallahassee if required.

Must-have candidate requirements:

• 10+ years of infrastructure and solution design experience
• 7+ years of expert-level or lead technical experience
• 7+ years of technical management experience leading technical staff through business-critical operations
• 7+ years leading enterprise-level multi-tenant cloud infrastructure environments
• Experience with high-complexity projects across multiple technical domains
• Experience mentoring technical supervisors and support engineers
• Experience developing and presenting cost-benefit analysis for technology roadmaps and strategic decisions
• Ability to coordinate multiple project teams and drive department-level initiatives
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong leadership, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred:

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect
• Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals
• Experience collaborating with programming/development teams
• Strong take-charge, solutions-oriented mindset
• Public sector, transportation, public safety, or regulated environment experience
