Financial Controller

We have been engaged by a growing organization in the Columbus metro area to recruit an experienced Controller to lead its financial operations and play a key role in shaping its people strategy. In this highly visible role, you’ll partner directly with the client’s leadership team to drive financial performance, strengthen processes, and help build a great place to work.

You’ll oversee core accounting operations, cash flow and banking relationships, payroll, and key human resources initiatives, while leading a small, collaborative team. This is an ideal opportunity for a hands-on leader who enjoys both rolling up their sleeves and acting as a strategic advisor.

What You'll Do:

• Oversee all plant-level financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and analysis
• Partner with plant leadership to evaluate manufacturing performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and improve profitability
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements in compliance with GAAP
• Conduct detailed analysis of production costs, inventory levels, labor, and material consumption
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes for the facility
• Support internal and external audit activities
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies, internal controls, and applicable state and federal regulations
• Assess operational and financial risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies
• Develop, mentor, and lead plant accounting and finance staff
• Provide financial insight and recommendations to support operational decision-making
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within accounting and finance processes

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 8+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
• Prior manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of cost accounting and operational finance
• Experience with ERP systems required; Infor Syteline experience is a strong plus
• Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills
• CPA, CMA, or MBA highly preferred
• Strong leadership, communication, and business partnering abilities
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

• Manufacturing plant finance leadership
• Inventory and standard cost accounting
• Variance analysis and KPI reporting
• Continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives
• Multi-site or complex manufacturing operations exposure
