There’s something about being in a room with people who take data seriously that recharges your perspective. A few days ago I attended the CPG Data Summit hosted by UpClear in New York City — and even catching only part of it, I left with ideas worth thinking about for a while. The conversation wasn’t about tools or dashboards. It was about something harder: why data initiatives fail even when the technology works. Misaligned decisions, low data trust, no clear ownership. Sound familiar? One line that stayed with me: “Data readiness is never a completed state — it’s a culture of continuous assessment.” That’s not a technical problem. That’s a leadership one. Thank you Kurt Kaiser for sharing your expertise and making this such a valuable session. The kind of thinking you brought to the room is exactly what this industry needs.

We just wrapped up our first-ever CPG Data Summit, and we're still reflecting on some thought-provoking presentations and discussions from the past couple of days. We're grateful for the insights shared by Don Baker (The Partnering Group) and Marine Bibal (EasyPicky), along with our own Thierry Soudee, Kurt Kaiser, and Andrew Dentinger. We also got to hear from our sustainability partners at Cafeteria Culture and FoodRecovery.org-- since their work directly impacts sustainable building in this industry.
