Congratulations to Richard Childress Racing pit performance director Ray Wright, who was honored by FOX as the 2026 recipient of “The Byrnsie Award” during Sunday’s NASCAR RACEDAY telecast from Dover Motor Speedway on FS1. Established in 2016 in honor of late FOX NASCAR broadcaster Steve Byrnes, affectionately nicknamed “Byrnsie,” the annual award celebrates an individual in the NASCAR Cup Series who best exemplifies principles Byrnes embodied in his professional and personal life--preparation, teamwork and family. Wright, a member of the RCR family for more than 15 years, is the founder of Pit Stops for Hope, a nonprofit organization focused on leveraging the NASCAR community to make a lasting impact on children in North Carolina’s most underserved communities. Wright was voted the recipient by Byrnes’ FOX NASCAR broadcast team colleagues. Byrnes passed away in April 2015 following a courageous battle with cancer. RCR is incredibly proud of Wright and the impact he continues to make both within the organization and throughout the community. His leadership, character, and commitment to others embody the values that help define Richard Childress Racing. #NASCAR #TheByrnsieAward #Leadership

About us
Founded in 1969, Richard Childress Racing is one of the largest and most storied organizations in NASCAR competition. RCR currently fields two teams in the NASCAR Cup Series and two teams in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. Throughout our history, RCR has accumulated a total of 17 championships and more than 200 victories across NASCAR’s top three series, including three Daytona 500 wins (1998, 2007, 2018) and three Brickyard 400 victories (1995, 2003, 2011) two of the sport’s crown jewels of competition. RCR was the first organization in NASCAR history to win championships across all three national touring series. On our 17-building, 52-acre campus in Welcome, North Carolina, RCR’s 400+ team members build race cars from the ground up in a fully-integrated vertical manufacturing operation. With a culture focused on innovation, our engineering team utilizes cutting-edge technologies to continuously improve the performance of our race cars. Our headquarters is also home to ECR Engines, a subsidiary of RCR that provides high-performance motors to our and other Chevrolet teams in NASCAR’s top three national series. ECR uses advanced technologies for research & development and engine production that has earned it more than 250 victories across multiple national motorsports series and championships in the XFINITY, Camping World Truck and ARCA Racing Series. ECR has also reached success in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Series powering the Cadillac DPi-V.R. RCR’s on-track success could not be possible without the help of our corporate partners. RCR maintains successful relationships with a host of blue-chip brands including Caterpillar, Dow, American Ethanol, Chevrolet and Bass Pro Shops. 𝐀𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 In recognition of Dallas serving as a host city for the World Cup in 2026, Austin Dillon was invited to Texas last week to speak on an athlete panel during the @Earthx2026 Congress of Conferences. Founded in Dallas, EarthX is the world’s largest green gathering, dedicated to environmental awareness, education, and collaborative action. Through its annual Expo, Congress of Conferences, and year-round initiatives, EarthX connects global leaders, innovators, and citizens committed to a sustainable future. Dillon is most recognized for his role as a Daytona 500 champion and driver of the No. 3 Chevrolet for RCR, but off the track, he champions conservation and serves as an ambassador for zero‑carbon bioethanol, promoting year‑round use of E15 fuel and NASCAR’s leadership in renewable energy. As a race team, RCR has become particularly focused on sustainable initiatives over the years, working closely to test and validate higher ethanol blends in NASCAR engines. RCR is one of 14 race shops that recycles scrap carbon fiber and joins the rest of the sport in recycling all tires and engine oil. ECR Engines, the engine company that is owned and operated on the RCR campus in Welcome, North Carolina, is leading a revolutionary project with M2X Energy designed to capture and convert waste methane through a transportable and scalable gas-to-methanol mobile plant. The project is the first of its kind. #athletespotlight #SportsBusiness #sustainability
