About us
The Navy League of the United States (NLUS) was founded in 1902 with the encouragement of President Theodore Roosevelt. The Navy League has provided a powerful voice for a stronger sea service to Congress and to the American people. The Navy League has grown into the foremost citizens' organization to serve, support, and stand with all the sea services – U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S.-flag Merchant Marine. The Navy League is comprised of 40,000 civilians in more than 240 councils around the world working to support sea service members and their families. We do this through a variety of education programs that remind our fellow citizens that the United States is a maritime nation whose national economic and security interests are inextricably tied to the freedom of the seas. The Navy League has three missions: to enhance the morale of active duty personnel and their families; to inform Congress and the American public on the importance of strong sea services; and to support youth through programs such as the Naval Sea Cadet Corps, Junior ROTC and Young Marines that expose young people to the values of our sea services. Over the years, the Navy League has compiled an impressive record of accomplishment. Today the Navy League is widely respected by citizens, community and industrial leaders, and public officials. Navy League programs are welcomed in communities throughout the nation, and members are recognized for their integrity and patriotism. Navy League is proud to be Certified™ by Great Place To Work® for the second year in a row. This award is based entirely on what current employees say about their experience working at Navy League of the United States. This year, 84% of employees said it’s a great place To Work compared to 57% of employees at a typical U.S.-based company. https://www.greatplacetowork.com/certified-company/7048811

$50 billion to fortify America's strategic gateway to the Pacific. Guam is undergoing one of the most significant military construction programs since the Cold War. By 2033, active-duty personnel stationed there will nearly double. The expansion includes integrated air and missile defenses, 2,400 new housing units, modernized ship maintenance facilities and improved logistics infrastructure. These investments signal a clear commitment to maintaining U.S. naval superiority and regional deterrence in the Indo-Pacific. The longest carrier deployment since the Vietnam War is over. The sailors of the Ford Carrier Strike Group stayed the course through one of the most demanding deployments in modern naval history. Behind every sailor is a family who carried this deployment too. Supporting our sailors and their families is central to the Navy League's mission. Service doesn't end at the waterline. Thank you, and welcome home. #USSGeraldRFord #NavyLeague #WelcomeHome

Welcome home to the crews of USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), USS Bainbridge (DDG 96), and USS Mahan (DDG 72). After 326 days at sea, the Ford Carrier Strike Group is back at Naval Station Norfolk. It’s the longest carrier deployment since the Vietnam War, breaking the post-Vietnam record previously held by USS Abraham Lincoln. Across nearly eleven months, the strike group operated across U.S. 4th, 5th, and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility, including the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and Red Sea, supporting Operations Southern Spear, Absolute Resolve, and Epic Fury. Nearly 4,500 sailors aboard the Ford, alongside the crews of Bainbridge and Mahan, the squadrons of Carrier Air Wing 8, and Destroyer Squadron 2, carried the load. To Rear Adm. Gavin Duff and every sailor in the strike group: thank you. To the families who held things together at home through extension after extension: thank you. Welcome home. BZ!
Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Daryl Caudle is issuing a massive Bravo Zulu to the extraordinary crews of the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), USS Bainbridge (DDG 96) and USS Mahan (DDG 72)! After a historic deployment defined by multiple extensions and relentless operational tempo, these Sailors remained the shield of our nation, proving their grit in the toughest of environments. CNO honors their unwavering professionalism and celebrates their safe return to the families who supported them throughout every mile of their journey. Welcome home and a job well done!

Navy League of the United States reposted this
Today at the commissioning of the USS Cleveland, I was reminded exactly why I do the work I do with the Navy League of the United States. 🇺🇸⚓️ As Empire Region President, and as a proud military mom, this mission is deeply personal to me. One of the newest officers aboard USS Cleveland is LtJG Freyman, a USNA graduate, Navy swimmer, and one of my daughter Theresa’s classmates and teammates. Over the years, I’ve watched these young women grow from plebes into leaders in the fleet. Somewhere along the way, their successes become your own. That’s what makes this community so special. It becomes family. Today was not just about commissioning a ship. It was about the parents who stood through every challenge, the mentors who guided these officers, and the organizations that invested in them long before this day ever arrived. The Sea Cadets serving on the color guard were outstanding and a powerful reminder that leadership development starts early. Through programs supported by the Navy League, young people are learning service, discipline, accountability, and teamwork long before they ever wear the uniform. I’ve had the privilege of supporting multiple ship commissionings through the Navy League, and every one reinforces the same thing. Civilian support of our sea services matters. You do not need to wear the uniform to serve the mission. It was also an honor to meet Acting Secretary of the Navy Hung Cao during today’s events. Congratulations to the crew of USS Cleveland. Fair winds and following seas #NavyLeague #USNavy #USNA #SeaCadets #MilitaryFamilies #Leadership #Service #ShipCommissioning

We're proud to spotlight four more Navy League councils making a difference in their communities. From hosting a first of its kind National Security Briefing featuring Space Force in New York, to connecting with veterans at a career fair in Kentucky, to bringing service members together on the golf course in Savannah, to celebrating the next generation at a Military Signing Day in Sarasota — our councils continue to strengthen the ties between our military and the communities they serve. Thank you to the New York Council, Central Kentucky Community Affiliate, Savannah Council, and Sarasota Manatee Council for your outstanding work and commitment to the Navy League's mission.
