This morning, we hosted a launch event for our most recent report, Pier Review: Leveraging the Allied Maritime Industrial Base for U.S. Shipbuilding. All members of the CMS team who participated in the paper, including Admiral James G. Foggo (ret.) MSC, briefly summarized their findings touring foreign shipyards and speaking with international maritime services. We want to thank all of our supporters who made this report possible, plus the many who attended our event today. Proud to have participated in the 2026 Capitol Hill Pacific Defense Outlook Summit hosted by Defense Leadership Forum. Center for Maritime Strategy experts Steven Wills and Matt Reisener joined a strong panel alongside Hanwha Defense USA, Inc. COO Mike Smith and Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Senior Fellow Cynthia Cook to discuss the Pier Review report and practical ways to advance allied cooperation for Pacific defense. Applications are now open for the 2026 Congressional Maritime Intensive — a premier three-day professional development program presented by the Center for Maritime Strategy.  This intensive course educates U.S. House of Representatives and United States Senate staffers on the history and application of U.S. maritime power and the critical implications of naval strategy on America’s defense posture and national budget. Participants will engage directly with distinguished senior leaders from the national security and military communities through seminars, interactive wargaming, simulations, and an offsite field trip.  Event Details:  August 4–6, 2026  Arlington, Virginia Designed for Congressional staffers (junior to senior level) with defense, intelligence, and foreign policy portfolios.
