Water is our Product of the Month. When disaster strikes, clean water becomes one of the most essential needs. As we kick off our disaster preparations, we’re calling on our community to help us secure 400,000 lbs of water. Your support keeps families safe. Donate today: bit.ly/bulkandretail
About us
🍏 Serving Houston and Southeast Texas since 1982, Houston Food Bank’s mission is to provide food for better lives. We provide access to 120 million nutritious meals in 18 counties through our 1,600 community partners of food pantries, soup kitchens, social service providers and schools. Filling gaps on plates, we have a strong focus on healthy foods and fresh produce. In collaboration with our community, we advocate for policy change and racial equity, and promote dialogue on ways to increase access to food and to improve the lives of those in our communities, including services and connections to programs that address the root causes of hunger and are aimed at helping families achieve long-term stability: nutrition education, health management and help with securing state-funded assistance. We are a resource for individuals and families in times of hardship. #HoustonFoodBank #FoodforBetterLives

Houston Food Bank is proud to celebrate Earth Day by announcing our new partnership with Zero Waste Houston, a local, family‑run organization dedicated to achieving zero waste by diverting at least 90% of materials from landfills and helping build a true zero‑waste community. We now have Zero Waste Houston composting containers at our Portwall and Knobcrest locations, where discarded produce and nonperishables are collected and transformed into nutrient‑rich compost that will help enrich soil across the region. Houston Food Bank recently partnered with the Houston Eviction Advocacy Center and the Keep Harris Housed Coalition (of which we are a part) to host a Lunch & Learn on the impact of evictions. The discussion highlighted how evictions create a domino effect that leads to food insecurity and other hardships, and explored ways we can work together to provide real solutions for neighbors in crisis. Thank you to Texas Housers [Texas Low Income Housing Information Service], New Economy for Working Houston, and Prevention Institute for helping drive this work forward.
