We were honored to attend the 2026 ACEC Indiana Engineering Excellence Awards, where we received two Merit Awards. Bridge Rehabilitation of US 31 over Blue Lick Creek: Egis designed the rehabilitation of the US 31 bridge over Blue Lick Creek, which replaced prestressed concrete adjacent box beams with prestressed concrete NEXT beams—one of the first uses of NEXT beams in Indiana. The project also included a new cast-in-place concrete deck, bridge rails, and reinforced concrete approach slabs, while reusing the existing abutments to reduce cost and environmental impact. By limiting the profile grade raise to less than one foot, the team minimized approach reconstruction and traffic disruption. Delivered under full closure, the project was one of the Indiana Department of Transportation’s (INDOT’s) three pilot efforts supporting the statewide implementation of NEXT beams. Toyota Trinity Stormwater Park: The Toyota Trinity Stormwater Park is a stormwater detention and CSO separation project in downtown Evansville. It redevelops the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church site, repurposing materials including Indiana limestone, stained glass windows, and red granite panels within the new park. The project includes an underground stormwater management system with storage chambers, oil skimmers, and backup discharge pumps, helping prevent 40 million gallons of untreated sewage from entering the Ohio River each year. Early public outreach also helped address community concerns and support the site’s future as both a water quality project and downtown greenspace. These awards reflect the strength of our teams, our clients, and the collaboration behind each project. Congratulations to everyone involved!
