Why do we design high-tech assets if they don’t speak our language? We often talk about automated systems as if they run themselves, but Melanie Morel knows better. As a Human Factors Expert, she is the vital bridge between complex technology and the people who use it. Meet Mélanie Morel. Her mission is to ensure that our assets are truly designed for the human mind. From sitting in cockpits with pilots to working with metro operators, she listens and observes to translate cognitive needs into design requirements. For Mélanie, her work isn’t about adding complexity, it’s about making the world feel more natural and significantly safer for everyone. By putting people first, she ensures that even the most complex infrastructures remain intuitive and reliable. Growth in infrastructure is not about scale alone. It’s about earning relevance in the markets that matter most. In the U.S., the real bottleneck isn’t demand for infrastructure. It’s the ability to bring together the right expertise, at the right depth, with the right local credibility. This is where Egis shifted the equation. Advancing to 56th in the 2026 ENR Top 500 is more than a ranking milestone. It signals the momentum of a U.S. platform deliberately engineered to perform. The impact is tangible. 17th in Transportation, entering the Top 20 for the first time. 47th among the Top 100 Pure Designers, securing a Top 50 position. By integrating Lochner and RockSol Consulting Group, Egis has bridged disciplines and geographies and activated a connected capability across transportation, aviation, water and advisory services. Not as separate entities. As one operational force. This is why the U.S. remains a strategic growth priority. Investing in talent. Expanding services. Deepening client partnerships to deliver infrastructure that communities can rely on. Egis in the U.S.

When expertise connects, performance accelerates. On 25 March, at our new Paris headquarters, 170 O&M leaders, experts, clients and partners came together for the O&M Signature Club. Because operations and maintenance are no longer just about reliability, they are about strategic performance. By bringing road, airport, rail and digital mobility experts into one shared space, Egis activated a powerful collective dynamic. One that aligns teams, connects geographies and reinforces what differentiates our O&M activities worldwide. Decarbonisation and digitalisation were at the heart of the discussions. Beyond our ambitions for the future, there are practical steps we can take today to achieve more sustainable and efficient mobility. This emblematic day was punctuated by: a plenary session setting direction, workshops turning insight into action, a showroom making expertise tangible, an strong moments of exchange that truly matter. In 1 minute 45 seconds, the video captures what defines this edition. Energy. Conviviality. Collective ambition. By activating this community, Egis positions O&M as a strategic asset that strengthens alignment, builds trust and supports long-term performance for our clients. [Insight] Five years on from the publication of the EU U‑space Regulation, momentum remains limited. What is holding progress back? Despite ambitious expectations in 2021, only one U‑space airspace is fully operational in Europe today. As the regulation marks its 5th anniversary, it is timely to reflect on why implementation has been slower than anticipated, and what this means for air navigation service providers (ANSPs). In their latest article, Egis Aviation Consultant Jan Cernan and Project Director Hervé Drévillon explore why U‑space has stalled, the challenges ANSPs need to anticipate, and how a pragmatic approach can support the next steps towards implementation. U‑space represents a fundamental shift in how low‑level airspace is managed. While the vision is clear, the reality is complex. ANSPs face significant challenges, including uncertainty over demand, the viability of business models, regulatory constraints on funding, and the technical and operational risks of integrating manned and unmanned traffic. Safety rightly remains paramount, and caution is understandable when the supporting ecosystem is still maturing. At the same time, delaying engagement carries its own risks. U‑space will affect airspace management regardless of organisational model, and those ANSPs who prepare early are better placed to influence outcomes and manage the transition. A structured, step‑by‑step approach can help bring clarity: understanding regulatory obligations, assessing viable organisational models, developing realistic traffic and economic forecasts, and identifying key CAPEX and OPEX cost drivers. Clear perspectives on implementation costs and responsibilities are essential to move from theory to practical deployment. If ANSPs are wondering where to start, this article sets out practical steps to help break the status quo and unlock progress on U‑space implementation. 👉 Read the full article here: https://bit.ly/4cGM61m
