New chapter, new home base to build it 📍 The team just celebrated our move into a new HQ! Still in San Francisco, designed to take our last three years of R&D and development into Ammobia’s next phase: scaling up and going to market. In 2023, we built our first reactor. Today, we’ve scaled it 1000x. Now we're building our pilot with the whole team under one roof – from engineers and lab technicians to enablers and founders. And we’re growing our mission-driven team! We’re looking for an Engineering Technician to help build and operate our pilot plant on-site in San Francisco. If you’re interested in contributing to Ammobia’s hard tech foundations and the ambitious roadmap required to help reshape the outlook for energy and food systems around the world, apply at the link in the comments. 🔗

  • The next chapter of ammonia production won't be built by one company. It needs the right strategic partners, with a shared mission. Ammobia's Director of Business Development, Bernd Haveresch, will be at the World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition on May 19-21 to connect with teams interested in a new, lower-cost way to produce ammonia. We’re building modular, feedstock-agnostic technology that lowers capital costs, and allows for deployment where energy is available and demand exists. Close to farming communities facing fertilizer shortages, ports where maritime operators need fuel, and outside the shipping lanes that are subject to disruption. If you're working across hydrogen, ammonia, fertilizers, or energy transition infrastructure and want to explore joint project opportunities, we'd love to meet in Rotterdam. 👉 Comment below or DM us for an intro to Bernd! #CleanAmmonia #WorldHydrogen #EnergyTransition #Fertilizer #Maritime #FoodSecurity #EnergySecurity #Ammonia #AmmoniaEnergy

  • For the first time, low-carbon ammonia has just hit cost parity with fossil fuel-derived ammonia in Asia. Will it last? We’re facing a concurrent food and energy crisis driven by historic oil prices and geopolitical uncertainty — a direct result of how concentrated and fossil-fuel-dependent our ammonia supply chains are today — and we don’t want this chapter to have the same ending as every major energy crisis that has come before it. A new blog from Ammobia CEO & Co-founder Karen Baert calls for action on the rare opportunity we have today to solidify permanent economic viability and lasting energy and food systems security through better ammonia production infrastructure. Affordable, distributed, resilient — and low-carbon.  Blog linked in the comments below, and we’d love to hear from you — what will it take to make low-carbon ammonia a fixed part of our future?

I’m excited to share that I’ve joined Ammobia as an advisor. Ammonia production hasn't fundamentally changed in a century. Ammobia is changing that — with a modular "Haber-Bosch 2.0" system that operates at lower pressures and temperatures, cutting capital costs and increasing flexibility in production. This matters more than it sounds. Renewable energy is variable. Today's ammonia plants aren't. Ammobia bridges that gap. From my independent work on the optimal design of ammonia systems, one conclusion is clear—there is a missing “middle scale.” Today’s landscape is polarized between very small (<10 tpd) systems and massive (>1000 tpd) industrial plants. Ammobia uniquely fills this gap, offering a pathway to deploy flexible, distributed production at meaningful scale. This is essential for coupling ammonia synthesis with variable renewable energy and for expanding domestic production capacity in a geopolitically shifting fertilizers market. Equally impressive is the team. Working with Karen Baert and Tristan Gilbert, I’ve seen firsthand how the company has evolved—from an early concept we discussed during a workshop at Stanford in 2023 to a rapidly advancing technology platform today. That trajectory gives me strong confidence in both the vision and the execution. More broadly, a key goal of my work is to translate research into real-world impact—moving from models and theory to solutions that can be deployed at scale. Ammobia is a clear example of that bridge in action, and I’m excited to contribute. Looking forward to helping connect science, engineering, and policy to accelerate the transition toward low-carbon ammonia for fertilizers, fuels, and beyond—and stay tuned for more on this front.

  • The AI boom makes innovation in DeepTech more urgent than ever. It was a great experience attending the DeepTech Alliance Energy 2026 - Business Creation Days, Stockholm, 21-22 April 2026. Our Director of Business Development, Bernd Haveresch, represented Ammobia at the event, as we continue strengthening our position in Europe. This year’s event had a strong focus on meaningful matchmaking between startups and corporates, creating valuable opportunities for real conversations and potential collaborations. It was also eye opening to meet such a diverse group of startups in the energy sector. Being surrounded by so many smart, creative, and entrepreneurial people made the experience even more impactful. Encouragingly, Ammobia is well positioned and on a strong path particularly in terms of our technology development plan, the strength of our supporters and investors, and of course, our team. A special thank you to Sting and THINGS for organizing such a valuable event. #DeepTechAlliance #STING #THINGS #Ammobia #Ammonia #AmmoniaEnergy

  • Ammonia might be the most underestimated clean fuel in the energy transition. 💡 In a new episode of Earthlings 2.0, our CEO and co-founder Karen Baert breaks down why ammonia – historically valued mostly for its nitrogen content to produce fertilizers – is emerging as a serious contender for energy and fuel reliability, because of its independence from both hydrocarbon price fluctuations and supply chain risks.  ⚓ Maritime shipping:  Representing 2% of global GHGs, it uses one of the dirtiest fuels in the world - maritime fuel oil - and they are looking for a clean alternative to power these massive ships that are difficult to electrify and decarbonize at scale. Ammonia is it, with 70 ammonia-powered ships on order already. 🌍 Global energy trade:  Europe and Japan want to decarbonize, but don't have enough land or renewable resources to do it domestically. Now, these regions could import clean energy in the form of ammonia, produced in places with abundant solar and wind – South America, Australia, India, and parts of Africa (which gives those nations a new export economy).  Ammonia isn’t just an energy vector anymore. It can act as an energy source – and with no carbon in the molecule, there’s no CO2 emissions when it’s burned. It’s higher energy density also makes it one of the easiest fuels to transport and store.  A very bright future for ammonia’s contributions to a decarbonized global economy.    🎧Join Karen and the Earthlings at the podcast link in our comments to learn more about how Ammobia is building the production technology to make this future affordable and accessible. #Ammonia #EnergySecurity #EnergyTransition #CleanFuel #ZeroCarbon #MaritimeShipping #FoodSecurity #Decarbonization

  • We are glad and honoured to have been selected as one of the start ups for the H2UB SPRINT Program 2026 🚀 where our Director of Business Development, Bernd Haveresch, took the stage. • Ammonia is one of the most important molecules on the planet. It feeds half the world's population, and it's set to play a major role in maritime fuel and global energy transport. But 100% of large-scale production still runs on coal or natural gas, in billion-dollar plants built on century-old technology. With fertilizer supply chains under pressure and energy security at the top of the global agenda, Ammobia has been rethinking status quos in ammonia production and supply chains. Our CEO Karen Baert spoke with HAUS Infinite Frontiers team about why the plant cost problem has been so hard to crack, what Ammobia is doing differently to unlock resilient and low-cost domestic ammonia supply vs. conventional production, and where she sees the market heading. Read more in the article linked in our comments about how we: •Run Haber-Bosch 2.0 at up to 10x lower pressure than conventional plants, cutting capital costs by up to half •Are designing modular plans that can scale with the projected ammonia market growth from $100B to $500B, driven by maritime shipping and global energy transport •Can produce ammonia with any energy source, which makes it relevant today, not just when clean hydrogen scales. Thank you to the Infinite Frontiers team for capturing the conversation.
