  • The rules are changing for battery storage. Facilities Dive broke down how the Treasury Department's updated FEOC guidance is reshaping energy storage procurement, tax credit eligibility, and supply chain strategy. The bottom line? Projects that demonstrate clean, compliant supply chains will capture the full value of federal incentives such as the 45X and 48E credits. Here's how Alsym Energy is also changing the game for battery storage: we've built our sodium-ion batteries from the ground up with these incentives in mind. Our chemistry is lithium- and cobalt-free, two of the most geopolitically sensitive materials in today's battery supply chains. As the article notes, "FEOC compliance is no longer a regulatory hurdle — it is becoming a defining factor in who wins in the U.S. battery market." We had the privilege of sitting down with Paul Charles, CEO and Founder of Charles and Associates, to talk about one of the most pressing challenges in AI infrastructure today: power. You can have all the GPUs in the world, but without the power to run them, they're just expensive paperweights. As Paul put it, we've moved from a "compute first" world to a "power first" world, and the industry is still catching up. A few key takeaways from our conversation: The grid can't keep pace. Batteries are no longer insurance, they're infrastructure. The architecture is evolving. This is a global challenge. At Alsym Energy, we're committed to being part of the solution to deliver safer, more scalable energy storage that can meet the demands of the AI era. Thank you, Paul, for sharing your expertise and vision. The future of AI runs on power, and conversations like this one help light the way. • Community opposition to battery storage is not going away, but what if the safest battery could change the game in how we pitch a project? We've been thinking a lot about what it means to build energy storage that communities actually want in their backyard. And we're not just talking about the economic benefits of battery storage, but storage that people actually feel good about having in their neighborhoods. It starts with the chemistry. When a battery is non-flammable at the cell level, everything changes. By adopting simpler cooling, reducing BOS complexity, and discussing with the surrounding community, we're aiming to change the public's perception one battery storage project at a time. • Thermal management has been a cornerstone of battery energy storage system design. Keeping cells within their ideal operating range has unlocked reliable, large-scale deployments around the world. Now, as the industry matures and project economics evolve, a new design philosophy is gaining momentum: batteries engineered to thrive across a wide temperature range, without the complexity of liquid cooling. The result is leaner systems, lower operating costs, and storage solutions better matched to the world's harshest and highest-growth markets. At Alsym Energy, this is our core focus. Our sodium-ion batteries are built for wide-temperature operation from the ground up — no liquid cooling required, and no compromise on safety or performance.
