About us

Climate Group is an international nonprofit, launched in 2004, with offices in London, Amsterdam, Beijing, New Delhi, and New York. Our mission is to drive climate action, fast. Our goal is a world of net zero carbon emissions by 2050, with greater prosperity for all. We do this by forming powerful networks of business and government, unlocking the power of collective action and scale to move whole systems such as energy, transport, heavy industry and food to a cleaner future. Together, we’re helping to shift global markets and policies towards faster reductions in carbon emissions.

You can’t decarbonise the built environment if you can’t measure the carbon that comes with it. As #EcosperityWeek and #CGAAS draw to a close in Singapore, the focus is rightly turning to embodied carbon and the role that procurement, transparency and market demand can play in scaling lower-carbon construction materials. At #ConcreteZero, we’re working across the value chain to speed up: ⭕ Demand for lower-carbon concrete ⭕ Greater transparency around material emissions ⭕ Practical implementation pathways ⭕ Collaboration between developers, suppliers, contractors and policymakers Today, our colleague Vivek Tejaswi from the ConcreteZero India team spoke at Ecosperity contributing to the growing regional conversation on industrial decarbonization and low-carbon construction. For more on why measuring material emissions is critical to cutting carbon in the built environment, take a look at our new piece in collaboration with the World Economic Forum's First Movers Coalition, and CapitaLand Development: https://lnkd.in/dv4g3iTQ

The significance of this vote is not only legal … it is also political. The debate is shifting from whether governments should act on climate, to whether they can justify continued delay. Attempts to dilute the resolution failed, underscoring how quickly the centre of gravity is moving. Governments are now expected not only to set targets, but to demonstrate credible delivery, accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and protect communities from escalating climate impacts. For major emitters, the space for delay is narrowing. And for countries already facing climate and debt pressures, the ICJ Advisory Opinion strengthens the case for greater accountability, support and investment in resilient, clean energy systems. Climate risk is no longer only environmental … it is increasingly legal, economic and geopolitical. Climate Group Under2 Coalition

I welcome the adoption of the General Assembly resolution on the International Court of Justice (ICJ)’s advisory opinion on climate change. This is a powerful affirmation of international law, climate justice, science, and the responsibility of states to protect people from the escalating climate crisis. Those least responsible for climate change are paying the highest price. That injustice must end. The science is clear: fossil fuels are the principal driver of the climate crisis. The path to climate justice runs through a rapid, just, and equitable transition away from fossil fuels towards renewable energy. The task ahead is clear — build a safer, fairer, and more resilient future for all.

Asia's clean energy transition is accelerating, and so is the race for economic advantage. Today’s discussions at the Climate Group Asia Action Summit tackled some of the biggest opportunities and challenges facing the region, from energy security to AI, from climate finance to the industrial transition. Several announcements came throughout the day: ⭕ Google launched its new Google DeepMind Accelerator for Asia Pacific, supporting climate innovators using frontier AI technologies. ⭕ RE100 announced a new IDZ Initiative in partnership with EPPEI, alongside a new China Guidebook to support renewable electricity procurement for companies in China. ⭕ The Subnational Methane Action Coalition (SMAC) also held its first convening, welcoming the Government of Punjab as a new member while bringing together governments and financiers to discuss climate finance solutions ahead of COP31. ⭕ Ember shared new insights on Asia’s clean energy transition and the accelerating role of renewables across the region. As Sam Kimmins put it: "You can't block the sun. You can't block the wind."

The construction sector is moving faster on concrete decarbonisation than most people realise. At this year’s Futurebuild, #ConcreteZero's Nia Bell chaired a conversation with Vincent Olivier (Holcim UK), Dan Bannister (Morrisroe), Kevin Bell (Laing O'Rourke), and Steve Brown (Ramboll) on exactly that. Key takeaways: ⭕ Better carbon reporting and data transparency are enabling more informed decisions and clearer accountability across projects ⭕ Site-level monitoring is helping teams identify practical opportunities to reduce emissions in real-time ⭕ Embracing new materials and genuine collaboration across contractors, engineers and suppliers is critical to decarbonising at scale When buyers demand it, the market moves. That's the ConcreteZero model. 🔗 Learn more about #ConcreteZero: https://lnkd.in/d_sgKec5

  • With the Opportunity Summit fast approaching... this is London calling.    Ahead of our summit at London Climate Action Week we're giving some our speakers a call to hear their thoughts on how the energy transition is reshaping opportunity and competitiveness across London, the UK and Europe.   Here's Serish Venkata Gandikota of the Frugal AI Hub at Cambridge Judge Business School, on how Europe can successfully lead on both AI and climate through more efficient AI.   We look forward to seeing you in London. Learn more about the Opportunity Summit on our website.

  • The tide is turning on the energy crisis.   From Spain to Egypt and from South Korea to Pakistan, countries are quickly realising renewables offer something no fossil fuel market can: security and control.   Real energy resilience comes from the power of renewables.   Read Helen Clarkson OBE’s latest insights on the unexpected forces pushing the clean energy transition forward - including, perhaps, the most unlikely driver of all.

  • Two trends impacted Asia this year. Rapid expansion of renewable energy capacity ensured that Asia led the global energy transition. But the fuel squeeze from the closure of the Strait of Hormuz created unprecedented disruption among Asian countries, threatening gains from renewables. Ahead of Climate Group Asia Action Summit in Singapore, we brought together leaders from across the region on the emerging trends and what it will take to keep Asia on track. A big thank you to Esther An, Dr Victor Nian, Dr Champa Patel, Zeeshan Ashfaq, Stuti Mishra for their insights. Watch the full video in comments.
