How do you embed a welcoming, Servant Leadership mindset into your daily processes?

I always try to include others in discussions and think ahead. I ensure our residents are living their best lives; I put them first when considering any goals or protocols for the staff. When working with the staff, I get them all the materials they need and try to use materials they already have access to, making it an easier system for them.

How do you inspire others to embrace Servant Leadership practices?

When working with staff and residents, I do my best to model each of the Servant Leadership qualities, including leading with moral authority and being a person of character. I believe being a positive and professional role model can help others do the same.

One of our residents loves purchasing items on eBay, however they don’t have a lot of their own funds to do this. We created a plan for when they are safe in the van, they can earn tokens for gift cards to eBay. This allows our resident to purchase fun items, while also teaching them money skills. They learn that they need to save up their gift cards to purchase something of higher cost or they can use a gift card now for something of lower cost.
