The Federation of European Business in India (FEBI) organised a meaningful session, first in the series, on “Decoding the EU-India FTA”, the Strategic Window - building decision-making frameworks!
The FTA isn’t just a trade instrument , it’s a strategic realignment, and FEBI members need to understand how it reshapes the competitive landscape now, not when it enters force.
The session encompassed:
* Structural understanding
* Rules of Origin readiness
* Sectoral opportunity mapping
As our esteemed guest, Shri Darpan Jain, Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, Government of India said, “India-EU FTA is a living agreement - Cognizant of multifarious objectives placed on trade, dynamic nature of trade, fast evolving technologies and increasing regulatory complexities, the Agreement embeds: multiple review, consultation and response mechanisms to deal with new, sudden challenges which emerge in future. The Agreement relies on strong stewardship and trust to deliver gains for both sides.”
FEBI also expressed sincere gratitude to Commerce Secretary, Rajesh Agrawal IAS, for continuous guidance and support. Dissemination of information will aid smooth implementation.
The session witnessed the launch of much awaited study on “Economic Footprint of European Businesses in India”.
“It is a reflection of a partnership that has grown not only in scale but in trust, ambition and shared purpose. EU businesses have been deeply embedded in India’s economic journey, contributing to jobs, innovation, and sustainable growth, while building long-term relationships that go beyond transactions to genuine collaborations”, highlighted Jürgen Westermeier, FEBI President, MD and President, Airbus India and South Asia.
“Today, with bilateral trade nearing EUR 200 billion and an EU investment stock in India of EUR 140 billion, we have moved beyond being just trading partners. We are co-architects of a stable, prosperous, and multipolar global order.”, stressed H.E. Hervé Delphine, Ambassador of the EU Delegation to India.
As the collective voice of EU businesses in India, FEBI remains committed to fostering this engagement and enabling a constructive policy environment, with Jürgen Westermeier Deepak SHARMA Sonia Prashar Alok Kesari Varda Taneja Debayani Majumder Devyani . Vrinda Saran Parnika Sadhaik
