286 applications. 4 editions. Venture Nordics. Helsinki Partners' signature programs for international investors. The numbers behind Venture Nordics tell a clear story about where global capital is looking. 📍 46% of total applicants of all 4 editions come from Europe but 54% fly in from Asia, North America, the Middle East, Latin America and Africa. 💰 Median AUM: $80M. 71% are emerging managers, exactly the segment building the next decade of Nordic capital. 📝 Applications got more on point every single year. This year we got 77 applications and 93% of them are of VCs interested in getting more exposure to Nordics or LPs eyeing the great performance of the Nordic funds, especially the Finnish ones. We always say we will select 10 international investors for the program as our LP&Funds team will have only 2.5 full-time employees at the point when the program will be running. But the applications are so good this year, that most probably we will select 2-3 more than 10. We're currently reviewing the applications and setting up interviews. We will let you know soon who are the participants of Venture Nordics 2026. Meanwhile stay on top of the Real News from Helsinki by subscribing at https://lnkd.in/dqtQ2VFJ #venturenordics #investinfinland #venturecapital

The current generation of Finnish designers feels less like a fashion story — and more like a masterclass in culture & organizational development ✨ Here’s why: the strongest cultures are built exactly like the best design communities: 🧵 craftsmanship over shortcuts 🧵 inclusion over ego 🧵 experimentation over perfection 🧵 collaboration over hierarchy Fashion in Helsinki’s (May 26-30, 2026) celebration of young designers, conceptual thinking, and community-driven creativity is a reminder that innovation rarely comes from “staying in your lane.” It comes from giving people psychological safety, creative freedom, and permission to challenge what’s considered “normal.” Ready to dive deep into the thought-provoking event? ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dbyvtmKb Also very Finnish: Instead of shouting “LOOK AT US!”, we quietly build globally interesting ideas while wearing practical shoes (not indoors though!) and discussing circular materials over coffee in a sauna ☕🇫🇮 🔥 You are still more than welcome to find and talk about us! 🗣️ Maybe that’s the real competitive advantage. Not just designing clothes. Designing cultures where people dare to create. Express themselves. That’s how you attract talent. That’s how you build resilient organizations. And honestly? That’s how you future-proof cities too. #Helsinki continues to prove that sustainability, equality, creativity and business success are not opposing forces — they are the same ecosystem. How is radical creativity, conceptual courage, regeneration, community and self-expression part of your company culture? Here's a brief rundown of our university-to-market pipeline: ⇒ Aalto University has a formal mandate to commercialise its IP. ⇒ University of Helsinki runs one of Northern Europe's strongest tech transfer operations. ⇒ VTT sits between the lab and the market. ⇒ Business Finland, VCs, and corporates help scale these solutions to the market. ⇒ The government's support reduces the risk for private investors. ICEYE and Nanoform are success stories that both came out of this system. International investors who joined our program, Venture Nordics, spent a week inside it: swipe to hear what they found 👉

Corporations typically choose locations based on numbers first. Financial data, business intelligence, talent base, costs alignment. The surprises come later, after they've arrived. The one I hear about most often is the flat hierarchy. In Helsinki, it's normal for the CEO of a surprisingly large company to be at the same industry event as everyone else, approachable, willing to take a coffee meeting with someone they've just met. At Slush, senior management and founders are on the floor manning booths alongside the sales teams, and a single conversation can shift the direction of a business. 🪶 A line we've been using here for years captures it well: "Finland is not a country, it's a country club". Once you shake hands with a few well-networrked people - they introduce you further and the whole ecosystem opens up. 🩶 Part of our job at Helsinki Partners is making those introductions happen fast, so companies don't spend months figuring out who to reach out to. The ecosystem opens up quickly once someone trusted vouches for you. ☕ #FDI #HelsinkiPartners #ThoughtsOutLoud

How about this bridge: What if sustainability wasn’t just an environmental strategy… but an organizational culture strategy? 🌍 Reading Helsinki’s Tourism Sustainability Report 2024, published in 2026, I couldn’t help thinking: this is actually a masterclass in long-term organizational development, systems thinking, and culture change. Because behind every sustainability target, certification, KPI, and policy… there are people. People building cross-sector collaboration. People changing mindsets. People learning new ways of working. People balancing growth with responsibility. People asking: “How do we create a city that works better for everyone?” And honestly? That’s the hard part. It’s easy to launch initiatives. It’s much harder to build a culture where sustainability, equality, inclusion, wellbeing, accessibility, and accountability become part of everyday decision-making. What stood out to me in Helsinki’s approach: ✅ Sustainability is embedded across strategy — not isolated in a single department ✅ Data and transparency are used to drive trust and learning ✅ Resident wellbeing matters as much as visitor growth ✅ Accessibility and inclusion are treated as essential, not “nice-to-have” ✅ Collaboration happens across public, private, and community actors ✅ Continuous improvement is valued more than perfection This is what real change management looks like: not a one off, but a cultural shift. Maybe that’s why #Finland — and #Helsinki in particular — often performs well in areas like trust, equality, innovation, and quality of life. Not because everything is perfect, but because there is a willingness to measure honestly, collaborate broadly, and improve continuously. Also very Finnish: creating a 100+ page evidence-based sustainability report. Respect, so important! 💚 You can find the report here https://lnkd.in/dK2DzvZW For anyone working in: #organizationaldevelopment #companyculture #peopledevelopment #changemanagement #equalityandinclusion #sustainability …there’s a lot to learn from how cities like Helsinki approach systemic transformation. Behind every sustainability index and certification are people driving long-term cultural and systemic change — huge credit to leaders like Nina Vesterinen and Juhana Vartiainen (Mayor during 2024), and the many teams collaborating across Helsinki’s tourism ecosystem. Sustainable destinations are ultimately built by sustainable cultures. What’s one thing organizations could learn from cities like Helsinki about long-term change and wellbeing? That number includes pension (17.39%), unemployment insurance (0.52%), occupational insurance (1.5%), and employer's health insurance (1.53%). No hidden charges and no variable costs on top. We like to think Finland’s employment cost structure is pretty transparent and predictable. For context on the broader cost environment in Finland: · Corporate tax is 20% today and is planned to drop to 18% in January 2027, the lowest rate in the Nordics · R&D spending qualifies for a permanent 50% additional tax deduction, plus 45% on year-on-year R&D increases (both capped at €500K/year) · Foreign key employees relocating to Finland can pay a flat 25% income tax for up to 7 years, provided they earn at least €5,800/month (reduced from 32% starting in 2026) · Company registration costs €320-€600, minimum share capital is €0, and incorporation takes 2-3 weeks · Finland ranks #1 in Europe for digital governance (DESI 2023), so most administrative processes are handled online Full cost breakdown by sector, including comparisons with London, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Stockholm, Dublin, and Copenhagen → https://lnkd.in/dBwKTJ6w Want more insider details about Helsinki city?
