MistyWest and intent are hosting the first New York #HardTechForum on Tues, June 2 as part of #NYTechWeek. 'The Internet of Building Things' will continue the discussion started in Vancouver, turning to the job site and the digitization of built environments. On the panel we have Ben Williams, COO of autonomous robotics company Exyn, who are pioneering GPS-denied and infrastructure-less autonomy in multi-modal robots. Ben is an award-winning entrepreneur and technologist, who previously co-founded and served as COO/CTO of Reelio, and helped build a new division within Lockheed Martin focused on commercializing deep tech research in energy systems. 🔗 This event is free to attend. An exciting update from former Westie Ryan Walker, who just completed a 48 hour internal hackathon at Wingtra to develop what is possibly the only subdermal orangutan tracker in the world. A tracking device that small cannot use satellite connectivity. Rather, this presented an opportunity for Wingtra's fixed wing drones to be fitted with an antenna to fly overhead and locate trackers in the Sumatran jungle. The history of tracking technologies can be traced from early manual systems like telegraphs and tallying, to barcodes and more recent advances like GPS and RFID. Now, we’re living in the age of printable smart shipping labels with embedded Bluetooth chips, and real-time Direct-to-Cellular (#DTC) communication. 🛜 The #InternetofThings has come a long way in recent decades.
