  • Insporos was selected as a finalist for the Frontier Collective and Vancity pitch competition! Nearly all our food starts at seed and every year gets more challenging. By predicting plant outcomes from seed, we can help aid in food security and mitigate resources spent trying to grow seeds that may otherwise not grow into healthy, productive plants! • We’re grateful to Genome British Columbia for their support through the Genomics Innovation Fund! Insporos is focused on non-destructive ways to measure seed quality before planting, and on understanding how upstream signals can inform decisions later in propagation and production. Disease remains an elusive challenge for growers worldwide, and we are excited to tackle it! We appreciate the opportunity to work with growers and research partners on challenges that matter across the seed and plant production ecosystem!

Award-winning startup insporos is a recent recipient of Genome BC’s Genomics Innovation Fund. The Vancouver-based company has spent the last few years perfecting a metabolomics-based intelligent seed scanning system, which can detect seed germination defects before seeds go to plant. Their next step? Targeted pathogen detection. Insporos are adding new data on seed-borne pathogens to the wealth of already useful information in their AI seed sorting system. The inclusion of metabolomics data will allow them to cut testing times from hours to seconds and also screen for diseases in a way that won't destroy seeds. Perfecting this technology can be huge for sustainable agriculture. A lot of crops fail in the process of planting, with some nurseries losing up to 30% to seed-borne diseases. Speedy, reliable and non-destructive quality control will make a huge difference. We’re excited for healthier, more reliable seeds to be on their way to those who grow, propagate, produce and enjoy plants 🌱

  • Insporos is grateful to be included in Techcouver.com’s B.C. startups to watch for 2026, and even more grateful to be building in a Beautiful British Columbia, which has an ecosystem that actively accelerates startup growth. We are especially thankful to UBC HATCH Venture Builder (https://icics.ubc.ca/hatch) for giving us a home to build, test, and scale our vision! Every conversation we have with farmers deepens our conviction that food security and sustainability start upstream with seeds. Farmers do everything within their power to feed people. Still, the pressure they are under is real. Climate volatility, rising costs, and tight margins mean that better information earlier can make the difference between loss and success. At Insporos, we are building technology to stand behind farmers and turn seeds into actionable data that reduces waste, lowers risk, and strengthens food systems. We are excited to forge ahead with the growers, partners, and ecosystem who believe that stronger food systems are built from the ground up.
