This week Sean Willy joins a national conversation on leadership, self-reliance, and autonomy across resources, innovation, and decision-making at the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference in Quebec City. The panel conversation will focus on Indigenous ownership, domestic capability, and the ability to execute at scale in an interconnected world. As Sean has said, participation isn’t enough. The goal is to lead, deliver, and retain value over the long term. That perspective is grounded in Des Nedhe Group’s work as a First Nation-owned enterprise, building capacity, partnerships, and long-term economic sovereignty across critical sectors. #GCCLC2026 #DesNedheGroup #IndigenousLeadership #EconomicReconciliation #EconomicSovereignty #ERFN

A global stage, with a Canadian focus. Our President, Sean Willy shared the stage with leaders from State Street SPDR ETFs and Glooscap Ventures in London, UK, last week for the Canadian Indigenous Investment Summit Forum to talk Indigenous leadership in Canada’s defence infrastructure. Nation-owned entities are bringing real capacity to major defence programs, shaping, financing, and executing on the work. A great conversation, and one that continues. Watch here for more. #ERFN #DesNedheGroupDefence #CanadianIndigenousInvestmentSummit

We’re building a united Prairie front. At #DEFSECWest, we kicked off a collaboration with the University of Alberta focused on defence innovation and northern development. This work aligns with NORAD modernization and Canadian Armed Forces priorities. It connects research, training, and commercialization to move systems out of the lab and into application. It also supports increased Indigenous participation and ownership in technology development and innovation, connecting that work to deployment, workforce development, and long-term outcomes. Feeling honoured to receive the Skookum Jim Award from the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC). Last night, in a room full of industry partners, colleagues, community leaders, and friends, Des Nedhe Group was recognized for advancing Indigenous entrepreneurship and community-led economic development across Saskatchewan’s mineral industry. Founded by English River First Nation in 1991, Des Nedhe Group was built on the belief that responsible resource development could exist in step with environmental stewardship. Our focus has always been on partnership, building strong companies, supporting the success of the projects we work on, and making sure development delivers real benefits for people and communities. We thank English River First Nation for the leadership and vision that continue to guide this work. We are also grateful to our long-time partner Cameco Corporation for the nomination, and to The Mosaic Company and Denison Mines Corp. for lending their support. These partnerships show what is possible when we work together with a shared commitment to responsible development and long-term success. Sean Willy #PDAC2026

What an incredible night put on by the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business. Thank you to the organizers, and all those who contributed to the special honouring of both Darion Ducharme, the Young Indigenous Entrepreneur Award, and our very own CEO, Sean Willy who received the Indigenous Business Lifetime Achievement Award. His parents, partner and children, close friends and colleagues proudly cheered him on as he graciously shared the accolade with so many. "I want to pay thanks and remember all those leaders who set the table for all of us in this room. We are at a unique time, opportunities are in front of us, but this would not have been possible without the long hard fight to secure this place at the table, leaders who fought to secure us our Indigenous Rights and Title. This spot at the table is now my generations and we need to push harder; use our education and experience to make these past leaders' work worth the sacrifices they made to all of us. As I look around this room tonight, and I am so proud to see so many great friends, colleagues, and allies. I also remember and am grateful for the opportunity to work with, learn and laugh with the thousands of First Nation, Inuit and Métis. Many of these have been change makers in their own right. Breaking the cycle of dependency, acting as leaders in their communities and showing up for work to better the lives of their families and friends. I am reminded of pragmatic leadership of all of these equipment operators, tradespeople, camp caterers, cooks, security guards and office workers. Our Nations are blessed with so many strong hard workers, that don't want to be recognized yet are far more key to our success and should be recognized. Thank you to all of you.”
