Back-to-back at ASGCT and PEG this week sharing updates on our 1-day CAR T platform. At ASGCT, we discussed improving transduction efficiency of non-activated CAR T by modulating IFN signaling. Today at PEG, I’ll go through deeper characterization of this product and what needs to change in QC/release to bring this into the clinic. Great feedback so far. I am more convinced than ever that fast, simplified, and fresh CAR T manufacturing is the direction forward. #1DayCART #CellTherapy #ASGCT #PEGS PennMedicine Center for Cellular Immunotherapies @ UPenn Penn Medicine Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

This week members of the team and broader community gathered to celebrate the life and career of Douglas B. Cines, MD, who passed at the end of last year. It was a wonderful tribute to him and celebration of the impact that he had on so many people. We are naming our special coagulation laboratory in his honor and have established the Douglas B. Cines, MD, Special Coagulation Laboratory Gift Fund. If you would like to give a gift to the fund that honor Dr. Cines and ensure his legacy lives on in perpetuity at Penn Medicine and beyond, you can do so here: https://lnkd.in/e3NbSDY9

🎉Congratulations to two teams within our department who received Penn Medicine Quality and Safety Awards this month!🎉 We are so proud of the great work you do every day to enhance patient care and it is wonderful to see you recognized by our institution. The project "Expansion of Home Phlebotomy with Type and Screen Testing is Feasible for Hematologic Monitoring: A Single Institution Pilot Study" won the award for Penn Medicine at Home and an honorable mention went to "Health System Implementation of Clinical Decision Support to Optimize Respiratory Pathogen Pane (RPP) Utilization" in the UPHS System category. Both are well-deserved honors!
