2ndCareers Expands in the US and Adds More Specializations – AI, Data, Cyber & Finance Industry

Job cuts and layoffs are on the increase. In the past 3 months highly recognizable companies like Amazon, UPS, Microsoft, Intel, and IBM as of last week have either laid off employees or have announced plans to. There will be more. And there will be a rise in new jobs and that’s the view held by 2ndCareers. Helping and preparing people to capitalize on the emergence of new jobs is one of our core objectives.

History, particularly the industrial revolutions show the movement of jobs and employment – the loss and rise of jobs,  all driven by technology!  The 1st Industrial revolution 1760s-1840s was driven by steam power and mechanization, moving work from farms to factories; the Second (c. 1870s-1914) used electricity to enable mass production; the Third (late 20th century) – The Digital revolution - brought automation with computers and IT and led to reimagining processes; and the Fourth is defined by AI and Internet of Things and Data. Some say there is a Fifth revolution in the wings, with a keen focus on man-machine collaboration; be it Human Led – Machine assisted or Machine Led – Human Managed, that will change the face of work.  

Organizations and professionals must pro-actively make room for newer ways and adopt reskilling programs to embrace change. Enterprises should be agile in redefining their workforce and make room for a wide swath of employment models including fractional work.   

At 2ndCareers, we believe we can help people cross the chasm and lead productive lives. The current layoffs are impacting both the young as well as the senior professionals.  For now, we are focusing exclusively on professionals over the age of 45 and help them Extend, Pivot and Restart their careers.

We launched 2ndCareers on September 16th, 2024, in India focused on HR, Sales& Marketing, Finance, Technology & C & Board level executives. A year later we are adding a layer of specialization to technology and launching our services in the US Market – by focusing on AI, Data and Cybersecurity and the Financial Services Industry including Banks, FinTech’s, Consulting companies that specialize in the financial markets, VCs and Private Equity. 

AI, Data and Cybersecurity are among the fastest growing jobs in the world. Jobs of tomorrow will require deep industry knowledge in addition to specific technical skills.
