Weatherford International plc has secured multiple managed pressure drilling (MPD) contracts and a global aftermarket services agreement with Noble Corporation, expanding its role in deepwater and international offshore operations.  The awards include delivery of two MPD systems for Noble’s offshore Guyana developments, with deployment expected before year-end. Weatherford is also upgrading a third-party MPD system for operations offshore Nigeria, with installation scheduled for the third quarter. In addition, the companies have entered into a global aftermarket agreement covering MPD systems across Noble’s fleet, aimed at standardizing lifecycle support, parts and services to improve operational reliability. “These awards reflect both the strength of our partnership with Noble and the value our managed pressure drilling technology delivers in complex offshore environments,” said Weatherford CEO Girish Saligram. “Our MPD systems are designed to provide precise pressure control, enhance safety, and improve drilling efficiency.” Noble said the agreement will support operations in increasingly challenging offshore environments. “Managed pressure drilling plays a critical role in enabling safe and efficient execution in some of the world’s most complex offshore environments,” said Joey Kawaja, senior vice president of operations. Weatherford has secured a managed pressure drilling (MPD) contract with Ventura Offshore for operations on the SSV Victoria rig in Brazil’s Búzios Field. The contract includes delivery of Weatherford’s G3 Integrated Riser Joint MPD system, turnkey rig preparation, system integration, and long-term maintenance services. This integrated, OEM-led approach aims to enhance safety, performance, and uptime in deepwater wells characterized by tight pressure windows. The Búzios Field’s complex deepwater environment demands precise pressure control to mitigate drilling risks, and Weatherford’s MPD technology is well-suited to these conditions. The system’s deployment reflects a broader trend in Brazil’s offshore sector toward advanced drilling solutions that reduce operational risk and improve efficiency. This development aligns with the ongoing challenge of global oil reserves decline, underscoring the importance of technological innovation in unlocking and safely developing remaining resources. It also echoes patterns seen in some of the largest oil and gas discoveries of the 21st century, where integrated drilling technologies have played a critical role in de-risking early-stage assets and enabling successful play openings. Before a Hydraulic Workover Unit is mobilized, someone has to verify it is actually fit for the job. Workover operations are among the highest-stakes interventions in the well lifecycle. They take place on live wells, under pressure, with limited margin for equipment failure. A unit that looks compliant on paper and one that performs reliably in the field are two different things. The gap between the two is where incidents happen and where non-productive time accumulates. Independent inspection closes that gap before it becomes a problem. DOLFINES Gulf Consultancy has been supporting a leading Turkmenistan-based operator across multiple interventions in the framework of their Hydraulic Workover Unit program. Our team of drilling rig experts travelled to the UAE, the Netherlands and Germany to carry out this work. In each case, our role is the same: independent third-party technical assessment before any contractual or operational commitment is made. In practice, this means our inspectors are on site before mobilization verifying equipment condition against documentation, conducting visual inspections of structures and equipment, witnessing function tests of critical systems, and identifying non-conformities while there is still time to act on them.
