The 79th World Health Assembly is next week. Best wishes to colleagues and country delegations. There is a full agenda ahead, including important discussions on reforming the global health architecture at a time when much is at stake and the world is watching. Recent outbreaks and events have tested the international system—highlighting both its strengths and its gaps. It is critical that we continue to invest in health security capacities to address those gaps. While it is unfortunate that the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing (PABS) annex of the Pandemic Agreement was not finalized in time for this WHA, there is still important work to advance pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response. This will be especially important as we look ahead to the UN General Assembly in September and the High-Level Meeting on PPR. Maintaining momentum now will be key.
