SB 254 is a California energy bill tied to wildfire funding and utility costs. VCEDA is tracking it closely because energy affordability and business cost pressures matter to Ventura County employers and the broader regional economy. VCEDA has historically opposed policies that could increase costs for businesses and ratepayers without clear accountability, and we will continue to engage on issues like SB 254 through that lens. I’m grateful to see my latest piece published in The Hill, with ConservAmerica, on why the CERTAIN Act matters. This issue matters for Wyoming because our economy depends on being able to build and maintain energy, transmission, water, and other core infrastructure under rules that are clear and reliable. It matters for the United States because a country that cannot make durable permitting decisions will struggle to build what it needs, keep costs down, and stay competitive. My argument is simple: when the government grants a permit under the law, that decision should mean something. https://lnkd.in/gm3pjWbU

Today’s King’s Speech sets out much-needed legislative direction on fuel poverty through the Energy Independence Bill. Key measures that National Energy Action (NEA) welcomes include: - Primary Legislation for new minimum energy efficiency standards in the private rented sector. 🏡 - Legislation to establish a new Warm Homes Agency to co-ordinate large‑scale delivery. ☎️ - Expanding the government’s toolkit to protect low-income and vulnerable households when needed, by enabling the provision of targeted support for energy bills. 💡 Raising private rented sector minimum energy efficiency standards is something we have long advocated for, and we strongly welcome the primary legislation commitment seen in today’s bill.

Pennsylvania built a power surplus. Virginia built dependence. That’s the difference competition makes. PA generates 40% more electricity than it uses because private investment and competition work. Monopolies don’t solve shortages. They create them. https://lnkd.in/es7GjzWg
