SBI Foundation proudly commemorates the legendary war veteran, Company Havildar Major Piru Singh Shekhawat, on his 108th birth anniversary. During the Indo-Pak War of 1948, he displayed unmatched bravery and made the supreme sacrifice while leading his troops to victory. He was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, the highest gallantry award. To honour his inspiring legacy, SBI Foundation has established the 'CHM Piru Singh Shekhawat Youth Centre' at Hansalsar in Jhunjhunu District, Rajasthan. This initiative is part of the Gram Seva Programme being implemented in partnership with Arpan Seva Sansthan. The centre has a dedicated team providing physical and academic training to rural youth, enabling them to join defence and police services. The training is free of cost, and youth aged 16-21 are trained in batches of 25 each. So far, 60 youths have been successfully trained for security forces examinations. SBI Foundation salutes our national heroes not only by remembering their sacrifices but also by inspiring the future generation to join hands in nation-building activities.
