Pluma Construction, ForeFront Power, and Standard Solar celebrated a major milestone with the ribbon cutting of the Pino community solar project in Las Vegas, New Mexico, part of an eight-project, 48.4 MW portfolio. The portfolio, developed by Pluma Construction and supported by ForeFront Power, is now largely complete, with seven of eight projects operational and the final project expected by the end of 2026. - The portfolio includes single-axis tracker systems across all sites, enhancing efficiency. - Standard Solar acquired the portfolio for long-term ownership and operations. - The projects contribute significantly to New Mexico’s clean energy infrastructure and community solar market growth. This milestone highlights the expanding role of construction and development in advancing renewable energy infrastructure in New Mexico. Meridian Energy Australia has received consent to build a 120MW solar farm alongside an already consented battery energy storage system (BESS) at Bunnythorpe, north of Palmerston North, New Zealand. The Bunnythorpe Solar Farm will have around 250,000 solar panels and be capable of producing approximately 225GWh of electricity per year - enough to power around 30,000 average homes. Bunnythorpe Energy Park will form part of a $3 billion investment Meridian is making through to 2030 to build new renewable energy capacity that'll boost the country's energy supply and help make electricity more affordable, says Guy Waipara, Meridian GM Development. "We're thrilled to receive this approval and have the opportunity to expand our presence in Manawatū. Meridian has been part of this amazing community for more than 20 years through our Te Apiti and Te Rere Hau wind farms. Solar energy is playing an increasingly important role in New Zealand's electricity generation, and we're excited to bring this to Manawatū." The project is expected to contribute to the vibrant and growing economy of Palmerston North and the Manawatū region. It is forecast to create in excess of 100 local construction jobs and up to $50m of local spend throughout construction. The project is subject to final investment decision by the Meridian Board, expected in Q4 2027. Neoen, and a pair of Ontario First Nations have been awarded 20-year, 50 MW solar contracts by Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) in its competitive Long-Term 2 Energy Supply procurement process. The contracts cover 100 per cent of the output from the future Matachewan First Nation 65 MWp / 50 MWac and the Garden River First Nation 253 MWp / 200 MWac solar farms. Both projects will be co-owned by Neoen and the First Nations in a 50 per cent equity partnership https://lnkd.in/e_GusScY
