𝘐𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵 𝘜𝘓 𝘰𝘳 𝘓𝘗𝘊𝘉? This is often the opening question in my discussions with consultants, distributors, and system integrators. What it really reveals is a recurring gap in understanding around fire safety standards and notified bodies. Perhaps the more relevant question is not “𝘞𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦?” — but rather: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐔𝐋 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐍54? When specifying fire alarm systems, understanding the distinction is critical: 🇪🇺 𝐄𝐍54 (𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝) 🔸 Mandatory across Europe and widely adopted 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 🔸 Harmonized under the 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐂𝐏𝐑) as a market access regulation to obtain CE marking. 🔸 Covers both 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 (𝐄𝐍54-𝐱) and 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐫 (𝐄𝐍54-13) 🔸 Requires 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐟𝐚𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 🔸Third-party certification by recognized 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 such as: Applus+, LPCB, BSI, VdS; among others 🇺🇸 𝐔𝐋 (𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬) 🔹 Predominantly used in 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 🔹 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭-𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜 certification (UL 864, UL 268, etc.) 🔹 Strong emphasis on 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐧𝐭-𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 🔹 Typically aligned with 𝐍𝐅𝐏𝐀 72 for system design and installation 🔹 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬: UL Solutions and FM approvals ( for high-risk installations) 👉 Key takeaway: UL frameworks 𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 (via NFPA), while EN54 integrates 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦-𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐚 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝.

⚠️ Why do some elevator projects face delays before installation even begins? In many cases, the issue is not design or pricing — but compliance and certification readiness. In different markets, requirements such as: • EN81 standards • CE marking • SASO certification • Local regulatory approvals are essential for project approval and execution. When these are not aligned from the beginning, projects may encounter: • approval delays • installation restrictions • unexpected compliance costs • project timeline disruptions This is why more developers and contractors are placing greater emphasis on certification readiness at the early stage of supplier selection. In practice, compliance is not just a formality — it is a key factor in ensuring smooth project delivery. 💡 From your experience, how early do you usually verify certification requirements in a project? #Elevator #Compliance #Engineering #Construction #GlobalProjects

Having an early warning detection would mitigate these fire risks as well as the right fire safety plan. We have the systems and products but lack the will to implement anything in South Africa

Properly installing solar panels offers three main benefits: 1. It can prevent dangerous accidents; 2. It can improve the power generation efficiency of solar panels; 3. It can extend the lifespan of solar panels and reduce after-sales service.

With ISO 15016:2025 now in force, it’s the right time to revisit hull performance analysis modules built around the environmental correction methodologies of ISO 15016:2015. The updated standard brings meaningful changes to how resistance corrections are approached during speed trials. Wind resistance calculations have been revised, and where ISO 19030-based monitoring relies on speed trial data as its baseline, those changes flow directly into your KPIs. Beyond wind, wave correction while not explicitly defined within ISO 19030, now has a clearer interpretation available through the 2025 edition. Water temperature, density and shallow water corrections have also been refined with improved equations, offering a more robust reference for in-service analysis. Performance monitoring systems that reference the 2015 standard may need to be revisited to stay aligned with where the industry is heading. Worth a closer look 😄 #MaritimeIndustry #HullPerformance #ISO15016 #ISO19030 #ShipPerformance #EEDI #NavalArchitecture https://lnkd.in/gcchcxJ2

Pressure vessel failures are rare, but when they happen, they’re usually catastrophic. In Queensland, staying compliant is more than a paperwork exercise. It means navigating the specifics of AS 1210, getting your hazard levels right under AS 4343, and ensuring you have the necessary RPEQ design verification and certification on hand. In our experience, compliance issues usually aren't born from negligence—they’re born from poor timing. We see the same patterns repeatedly: Procurement before verification: Buying a vessel before ensuring the design meets local standards. The import trap: Bringing in overseas equipment that lacks the documentation required by Australian regulators. Vague maintenance: Failing to define clear inspection regimes from day one. By the time these gaps are identified, the "fix" is often expensive and disruptive. We’ve put together a straightforward guide to pressure vessel certification and RPEQ verification in Queensland. It breaks down what you need, when you need it, and how to avoid the common pitfalls that stall projects. If you’re responsible for procuring or operating pressure equipment, this is for you. https://lnkd.in/g-MMFMTn #PressureVessels #Engineering #RPEQ #Compliance #AS1210 #QueenslandIndustry #PlantSafety #IndustrialEngineering
