The Yeu–Noirmoutier offshore wind farm has now completed offshore installation, with all 61 Siemens Gamesa turbines in place, while commissioning is being finalized. The project contributes directly to France’s energy transition while supporting Europe’s broader ambition to build a more secure, resilient and independent energy system. It also reflects a wider European priority: strengthening regional manufacturing capabilities, reducing reliance on fossil fuels, and building a competitive renewable energy supply base rooted in Europe. The nacelles and blades were manufactured and assembled at Siemens Gamesa’s Le Havre plant, demonstrating how local industry supports large‑scale offshore wind delivery while advancing Europe’s long‑term energy security ambitions. DNV has supported Galp on the acquisition of a 351 MW portfolio of 17 operational onshore wind farms in Spain. DNV acted as Technical Advisor, delivering a coordinated due diligence across multiple sites operating under different technical, contractual and regulatory frameworks, all within a compressed timeframe. Our work spanned site inspections, performance and energy yield assessments, turbine technology reviews, remaining useful lifetime analysis, permitting checks, and repowering potential, an increasingly critical factor as Spain’s wind fleet matures. This transaction reflects a wider shift in the market: established energy players are accelerating decarbonisation by acquiring operational renewable assets, prioritising speed to capacity and value optimisation alongside new-build projects. With Spain targeting 74% renewable electricity by 2030, and wind expected to play a central role, rigorous technical due diligence and asset optimisation will be essential to delivering sustainable growth at scale.
