J.D. Polk’s Post

It’s good to have them home safe. It was a beautiful mission, a flawless re-entry and splashdown, and the culmination of a lot of hard work by the teams. Artemis II reminded the world what disciplined innovation and human determination can accomplish. It was an outstanding mission, and a testament to the teams who execute it. Artemis III and the missions that follow will define a new era of exploration, science, and opportunity. That future doesn’t begin next year or next quarter. It begins now, with the decisions we make and the work we commit to today. So, the bags are packed and we head out again. We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us to land on the Moon, and miles to go. 🚀🧑🏻🚀🧑🚀👩🏾🚀👩🏻🚀🌓 #nasa, #artemis, #aerospacemedicine, #innovation, #moon 📸: NASA

What an incredible accomplishment through the cooperative efforts of literally thousands of people! While the Astronauts get a tremendous amount of credit for performing such a high stakes mission in such a flawless manner, the medical staff deserves a lot of credit for the skillful way in which they have identified and addressed the necessary human factors necessary for safe space flight.

What I deeply admire is the discipline of never resting on past achievements. True excellence is not defined by how successful a mission was, but by how rigorously we prepare the next one—learning from every experience, including the most successful ones.

Congrats to you, the entire support team and the NASA family! The world was watching in amazement, awestruck with every moment. It has re-opened a door I feared was lost, re-invigorated our dreams as a Nation, and allowed me to see genuine joy and fascination on my teens’ faces. Priceless. 🙏🙏🙏

Dear JD, Huge Congratulations! - to you and the many who worked with you on behalf of this brave crew. Ill never forget your opening words to me on our first meeting 3/28/2019 at HQ - You said “Hi, we’re going back to the moon!” Ive believed you ever since! Looking forward to continuing to support your efforts in any way. Best, Aenor

So incredible. The hard work of everyone at NASA that made this happen will inspire generations. Truly heartwarming.

Glad to see them home safe. What stands out is how much of the mission is carried outside the visible moments..The crew holds what they experience. The ground holds what the system says. Keeping those aligned is the work nobody sees. That’s where the mission is really being held.
