This week's Power Corner was with Ventiva CEO Carl Schlachte. The company is based on its ionic cooling technology, which generates sustained airflow without any moving parts. Schlachte calls it a "digitally-controlled air mover," and it is aimed at fans/blower applications in laptops, servers, and even edge applications (such as automotive and robotics). In fact, they've already been successfully implemented in consumer laptops. For data centers, Schlachte described how 15% of a 2U server's total power budget can be used to drive fans. Despite this, airflow is thermally degraded by the time it arrives at the back of the server. He states that this problem worsens with liquid cooling technologies, so finding an alternative for components at the rear of the server chassis, such as NIC cards, VRMs, and DIMMs, can be critical. Plus, geometry constraints and serviceability requirements rule out liquid cooling for these components. "A $10,000 rack can throttle because a $500 NIC card overheats." High‑power systems like EVs and industrial equipment rely on accurate, long‑term monitoring of high‑voltage buses, traditionally using complex resistor dividers and differential amplifiers with multiple design tradeoffs. ROHM Semiconductor’s BM67301FV‑C simplifies this by integrating a high‑voltage resistor divider and amplifier into one IC, with selectable 0–600 V or 0–1200 V ranges and precision offset support. It’s a cleaner, more reliable approach for EV battery monitoring and charging applications, including pre‑charge detection. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/g8bcD8WR

Machine condition is the backbone of any operation, whether it's in the manufacturing or resources space. When your machines fail, downtime occurs, which can be extremely costly. While scheduled maintenance can be effective, nothing beats constant condition monitoring, and that's where the Advantech WISE-2410 and WISE-2410X come in. These sensors wirelessly record the vibration and temperature of assets, sending them to the chosen monitoring suite. This allows maintenance teams to see problems as they occur, letting them take action before anomalies become downtime. If you'd like to learn more about the Advantech WISE-2410, check out our website or reach out to the team: https://zurl.co/Z86BY
