The EiP report on Immunization and Vaccination Equity, developed from the December 2025 LifeCourse Prevention Summit, examines why significant inequities in vaccination uptake persist across populations and sets out concrete actions to address them. From data blind spots and structural barriers to trust, community engagement, and policy reform, the report brings together evidence and perspectives from across public health, clinical practice, social science, and civil society. This #Immunization & #Vaccination #Equity report by Excellence in Pediatrics Institute synthesises a range of issues presented in expert briefings at the 2025 gathering in Paris. It offers some important implications for public health agencies. I was happy to inject some social science perspectives on #religion & how this isn't a barrier to vaccination per se but does shape under-vaccination through social organisation, authority structures & gendered networks. And importantly, 'culturally appropriate' approaches can reinforce the inequities that they seek to address (even if designed with the best of intentions). Vaccination equity is a question of system design and inequities in uptake remain predictable, patterned outcomes of how systems are built, measured, and experienced. The EiP report on Immunization and Vaccination Equity examines the evidence and sets out concrete actions to address this. Proud to share our work from the Excellence in Pediatrics Institute.

This #Immunization & #Vaccination #Equity report by Excellence in Pediatrics Institute synthesises a range of issues presented in expert briefings at the 2025 gathering in Paris. It offers some important implications for #public #health agencies. I was happy to contribute some insights on what routine #data tells us about equity and where the blind spots are. The bottom line, we need to monitor programme beyond vaccine coverage and directly measure equity looking at timeliness, non-completion and other indicators among populations we have identified as undervaccinated. Here are key findings from a recent policy brief on childhood vaccination in #Somalia: A large proportion of children remain unvaccinated, especially among vulnerable and hard-to-reach populations. The gap is driven by weak policy focus, fragmented health services, poor data systems, and socioeconomic barriers such as poverty and misinformation. Addressing this requires targeted strategies, stronger coordination, and innovative approaches to improve equitable access to immunization. #SIDRAPublication #Immunization #ImmunizationWeek #Somalia #HealthEquity

Religion is not a barrier to vaccination, but it does shape the social networks, trust structures and communication channels that determine whether communities engage with immunization programs. In his briefing from the 10th LifeCourse Prevention Summit, Dr. Ben Kasstan-Dabush (LSHTM) challenges the framing of "vaccine hesitancy" in marginalized religious communities and shows why healthcare providers' assumptions can actively undermine uptake. His work points to a more effective path: co-produced communications, community health networks, and shared responsibility for vaccination delivery. This briefing features in this week's EiP Vaccination Equity newsletter. #VaccinationEquity #CommunityHealth #LifeCoursePrevention #PublicHealth #Immunization

FQHC Series: Post 58 of 100 A child left the clinic. The vaccine was due. Nobody flagged it. That is not a clinical failure. That is a data failure. Immunization rates are one of the most trackable metrics in community health. They are also one of the most consistently underperformed, not because centers do not care, but because the data lives in three different places and nobody has connected them. Post 58 of the series breaks down exactly how to build a working immunization gap report, how to turn that report into real outreach, and what your dashboard should show week over week so this never becomes a UDS-season scramble. This one is for the quality managers, care coordinators, and clinical informatics leads who know the gap exists and want a practical path forward. For every reader outside the US: the problem is universal. The tools are more accessible than you think. Read it. Share it with your quality team. The gap is closable. #FQHC #CommunityHealth #Immunization #HealthData #QualityImprovement #HealthEquity #DigitalHealth #PublicHealth #DataStrategy #UDS #PrimaryCare #GlobalHealth

On the occasion of 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗜𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 (𝟮𝟰–𝟯𝟬 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹), 𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, While coverage has improved, the focus must now shift towards complete schedule adherence, lifecycle immunization, and closing missed gaps. At HPHF, we promote "𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘁" approaches to identify underserved populations, enable continuity of care, and ensure that no individual is left unprotected. Because effective immunization is not just about reach—it is about completion. #WorldImmunizationWeek #VaccinesWork #HealthSystems #PublicHealth #HPHF
