🚨 What if a robot could detect invisible gases, identify fire, and actively guide people to safety before humans even realize the danger? 🚗 Built an Industry Inspection Rover that doesn’t just sense hazards it interprets, decides, reacts, and can be extended to guide evacuation in real time. At the core, an Arduino Uno processes real-time inputs from: MQ-9 gas sensor (detecting combustion gases like CO and LPG) IR flame sensor (detecting fire via infrared radiation) Instead of relying on raw analog values, we used the actual MQ-9 datasheet characteristics to implement a mathematical model, converting sensor readings into estimated gas concentration (ppm). 👉 This enables quantitative interpretation rather than simple threshold detection. We implemented a non-blocking real-time control system using millis() based execution, ensuring continuous monitoring and immediate response critical in safety environments. A sensor fusion logic is used: Fire detected OR gas exceeds threshold → hazard state Once triggered, the rover executes an autonomous escape maneuver: Reverse to create distance Pivot turn to reorient Stop facing away from danger Motor control is handled using the L298N Motor Driver Module with PWM-based speed and direction control. On the hardware side, a key engineering challenge was power stability under high current load.
