AP Ventures’ Post

Last week, AP Ventures had the privilege of co-hosting the UK–California Clean Tech Innovation Forum with the British Consulate-General in San Francisco as part of SF Climate Week 2026. The afternoon brought together climate leaders, investors, and researchers to explore how transatlantic collaboration can accelerate the next generation of clean technologies from lab to market.   The event included a fireside chat between Rachel Kyte, UK Special Representative for Climate, and President John Reynolds of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) as well as a panel focussed on clean tech commercialisation featuring Kevin Eggers (AP Ventures), Neeka Mashouf (Rubi Laboratories), Ryan D. Taylor (Bakar Labs, UC Berkeley), and Alyssa Gilbert (Grantham Institute, Imperial College London), expertly moderated by Rachel Kyte.   A few key takeaways from the event: ➡️ Despite headwinds, California and the UK remain firmly committed to their climate targets. The conversation has rightly broadened beyond decarbonisation and also includes important metrics like energy security and affordability ➡️ California and the UK have a lot in common; incentivising cross collaboration and making it easier for businesses (start-ups, investment firms) to set up transatlantic offices will enable further cooperation ➡️ California and the UK can work together to accelerate the scale-up of technologies key to the future of energy and decarbonisation   Thank you to our co-hosts, panellists, and everyone who joined us. The UK–California partnership is a powerful example of what's possible when ecosystems work together.   #SFClimateWeek #CleanTech #UKCalifornia #ClimateInnovation #SFCW2026
